Job Description:


This full-time MCCC Unit position will be responsible for leading and managing the Veterinary Technology Program at Massasoit. In addition to providing an opportunity for students enrolled at Massasoit to earn an Associates Degree in Applied Sciences, in Veterinary Technician, the program also includes an innovative partnership with Norfolk County Agricultural High School, allowing high school students at Norfolk County to begin the program through dual enrollment and articulated credit opportunities.

Job Specifications:
  • Responsible for managing the development, review, and continuation of all program elements to ensure that they meet American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accreditation standards
  • Interact with the Dean of Science and Mathematics, advisory board, consultants, Norfolk County school officials, and other program partners to manage the day-to-day operations of the program as well as plan for the future
  • Responsible for managing the recruitment and advising efforts for the program.
  • Set up, evaluate, and maintain relationships with clinical and educational partners for offsite instruction, student internships, and job placement
  • Responsible for carrying out a variety of administrative tasks associated with the operation and accreditation of the program, including, but not limited to, preparation of budgets, planning, and management of supplies, instructional spaces and equipment, and management of animal welfare and staff support
  • Instructional duties will include supervision and evaluation of students in the internship program
  • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions
  • Other duties and projects as assigned



Requirements:


  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology from an American Veterinary Medical Association-accredited program

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in a veterinary setting
  • Demonstrated managerial and leadership experience
  • Experience working in an Academic setting
  • Experience in curriculum design, instruction, program administration, evaluation and collaborative leadership
  • Ability to work with and inspire students and staff
  • Effective organizational skills
  • A licensed Veterinarian
  • Doctorate in veterinary medicine

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT: Candidates for employment should be aware that all Community College students, faculty, and staff are required to be fully vaccinated by January 2022. Additional Information:


Position Status: 12-month, full-time tenure track benefited. Terms are governed by the Massachusetts Community College Council MCCC collective bargaining agreement. Please note: the classification title for this position is Senior Special Programs Coordinator.

Hours: 37.5 hours a week, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Occasional weekend and evening work required.

Salary: $58,319 - $67,081 Grade 5. Salary is commensurate and based on the MCCC Classification Study.

Worksite: Primarily Canton. Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
