Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: August, 2019
RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful applicant will be required to teach Fire Science and Fire Administration undergraduate courses as assigned. Successful applicants could also be assigned to teach and develop courses that concern special topics related to fire science and administration. Applicants should also demonstrate an understanding of the application of technology to enhance learning. Other duties may be assigned as required by the Director of LEJA.
This position requires full attendance at all classes in a traditional face-to-face classroom format. The position also affords opportunities to develop and conduct hybrid or online courses for the successful applicant. This solicitation/position is not for online instruction or distance learning only.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must meet the following qualification standards of an earned Master's degree in Fire Science, Fire Administration, Public Administration, Management or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of Higher Education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body) with an educational and experiential vita demonstrating expertise (minimum of five years) in fire operations and administration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of three years teaching fire science courses, or courses in a closely related field, at an institution of higher learning is preferred.

For a degree to be considered, it must be conferred from a regionally accredited degree-granting institution of higher education (or equivalent from an international accrediting body). Unless otherwise stated, the degree must be"in hand" at the time of application.

Additional Information:
THE DEPARTMENT: Within the School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration at WIU, one can receive a Bachelor of Science and/or a Master of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. A Police Executive Certificate is also available to post-graduate students and is designed to prepare future law enforcement executives and current executives for the future. A Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science is also available. Classes are primarily taught at the main campus in Macomb, Illinois, but also at locations in the Quad Cities, Springfield, and Chicago.

Macomb is an Amtrak city with twice-daily service to Chicago. Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,267): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan campus in Moline, IL
