Primary Duties:

The University Registrar is the chief administrative officer for the Office of the Registrar, and manages the day-to-day activities of the office; including Records and Registration, Articulation, Academic Evaluations, Academic Publications and Scheduling Services, Degree Audit Programming, and Veterans Affairs. The Registrar is also responsible for managing degree conferral and diploma preparation; maintaining the integrity of student academic records; authorizing student data usage and access; campus compliance with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) rules and regulation; and coordinating and consulting for all processes and initiatives interfacing with Office of the Registrar, including, but not limited to Regional and Continuing Education and other auxiliary programs.

Required Education:

Masters degree in related field
AND
Six years of progressively responsible work experience in higher education registration and records, graduation evaluation, enrollment management, student services, or equivalent setting. Experience will also include a minimum of three years leading and/or supervising the work of others.

  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. This is considered a sensitive position. Current CSU, Chico employees are subject to a background check (including a criminal record check) if voluntarily moving into a sensitive position, regardless of any background checks previously conducted. Incumbent is responsible for the safety and security of Level 1 data, sometimes also referred to as Level 1 protected data. This is confidential information that is in most cases protected by statutes, regulations, or other legal mandates.
  • This position is a Higher Education Employer-Employee Relations Act (HEERA) designated managerial position and comes under the Management Personnel Plan (MPP) of the California State University. Individuals appointed to management positions serve at the pleasure of the President or designee. They are excluded from the collective bargaining process, are not subject to probationary service, and do not receive tenure or permanent status. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
  • The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a designated position under the California State Universitys Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission. (Designated Group Enrollment Management Assistant / Associate Vice President or Director 1, 2 Categories 1 & 2)
  • The person holding this position is considered a Limited Mandated Reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 (revised July 21, 2017) as a condition of employment
  • Since education is a qualifying factor, a sealed, official transcript providing evidence of educational attainment will also be required of the successful candidate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office, around campus, and community. Must be able to travel across campus to other offices and buildings on campus for meetings and events, as well as off campus to meet with constituents.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position involves frequent to constant interaction with students, parents, guests, and staff. The office is a typical office environment with standard office equipment. At times, is a fast-paced environment requiring a flexible schedule. Early morning, evening or weekend hours may be required, as needed travel. May occasionally work outside and locations may include even and uneven walking surfaces, exposure to weather changes such as temperatures, humidity or precipitation. This position also requires travel.
