We are searching for an experienced Temporary Clerical at our Santa Maria Campus facility.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



Clerical Pool

Allan Hancock College is currently accepting applications to establish a pool for current and future clerical positions.

Qualifications Profile:

  • Knowledge of: office management techniques and organizational skills; written business communications; various data bases; word/information processing applications and production; records management; correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation; formatting; and office methods, procedures, and equipment, including filing systems, and receptionist and telephone techniques.

  • Ability to: communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; develop and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work; understand and carry out oral and written directions; work independently, organize work load, and establish priorities; learn and interpret specific rules, procedures, regulations, and policies, and apply them with good judgment in a variety of procedural situations; operates a word processor and computer terminal with speed and accuracy; and establish and maintain office records and files.

  • Education and Experience: An equivalent to a high school diploma and two years of increasingly responsible clerical experience OR any equivalent combination of training and experience.

    Salary: Dependent upon education, experience, and specific assignment.

    The regular work schedule is 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Friday. However, schedule may change per district need.




    Required Qualifications:



  • Primary Duties: Each clerical/administrative assistant is required to use a computer terminal to input and retrieve data with speed and accuracy. Position may also require the incumbent to compile and audit reports for inconsistencies; prepare bulletins, letters, memos, and other written materials/documents with speed and accuracy; distribute items on campus; set up and maintain files; process/update materials; answer incoming telephone calls; receive the public, staff, and students; and performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Screening Process: A committee will screen all applications. Meeting minimum qualifications does not assure the candidate an interview. Therefore, it is important that the application be thorough and detailed. Applicants will be assessed on the breadth and depth of education, training, experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. A limited number of applicants will be invited for an interview at the college at their own expense.
