The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Teacher in Residence, Foothill College.

KRAUSE CENTER FOR INNOVATION:

The Teacher-in-Residence program at Foothill College is a project with the Krause Center for Innovation designed to explore, expand and collaborate with K-18 educators throughout the region on integrating technology into classroom instruction.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Reporting to the Director of the Krause Center for Innovation, promote Learning in New Media (LINC) classes to K-18 educators and the community. Teach classes to K-18 educators about the integration of technology into classroom instruction. Collaborate with regional and state educational agencies to establish a Krause Center for Innovation/Foothill College presence in various education and educational technology initiatives. Collaborate with institutions of higher learning for articulation of teacher training. Identify and coach part-time instructors at the high school and college levels. Participate in and present at K-18 conferences on educational trends and technology.

Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attending department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of an instructor. Instructors also have the opportunity to serve on District and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
  2. Master's Degree in Education, IDT, or Ed. Tech.
  3. Proven relationships with K-18 regional educators.
  4. Documentation of successful technology-related project development, management and leadership.
  5. Demonstrated or certifiable skills in educational technology, including multimedia, audio-visual, mobile devices, online instruction and computer-based technologies.
  6. Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the K-12 California state-mandated curriculum.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Strong background in pedagogy, ed. tech. and/or instructional design.
  2. Knowledge of teacher and administrative credentialing in California (CSTP, CPSEL)
  3. Experience with curriculum development and management either in K-12 or higher education (e.g., Title 5)
  4. Five years of experience as a teacher in K-18, preferably in STEM or related fields.
  5. Knowledge of pedagogy for K-18 educators.
  6. Familiarity with a community college environment.
  7. Familiarity with Web-based platforms, applications and devices used by K-18 California educators.
  8. Standards related to the delivery of digital content in face-to-face and online context.
  9. In addition, successful candidates will demonstrate the following:
  10. Creativity and ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  11. Effective communication with staff, faculty, administrators, students, and collaborative partners.
  12. Ability to work cooperatively with college and K-18 educators and administrators.
  13. Actualize cultural diversity and support a multicultural environment.
