Job Description:


Germanna Community College is a public, open access institution of higher education in the Virginia Community College System. Germanna Community College is centrally located in Fredericksburg, VA between Washington D.C. and Richmond and between the Blue Ridge mountains and the Chesapeake Bay. The Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program Assistant will support the expansion and day-to-day administration of the Supplemental Instruction Program. The incumbent will assist the SI Supervisor in the training and professional development of SI Leaders throughout the year. The SI Program Assistant will provide the SI Leaders with beginning-of-semester surveys to determine when to hold the SI discussion sessions, help the SI Leaders analyze the results to determine the session meeting times, and schedule on campus meeting rooms. The Supplemental Instruction Program Assistant will conduct observations of SI Discussions and provide feedback for SI Leaders. The SI Program Assistant will also meet with the SI Leaders on a regular basis to help them plan their SI discussion sessions and to provide them with any academic or technical resources they need. The incumbent will create and maintain attendance tracking sheets for 25 or more class sections each semester with embedded SI Leaders. Additional program responsibilities include the creation and maintenance of spreadsheets, files, and databases necessary for retrieving statistical data and generating reports. At the end of each semester, the SI Program Assistant will collect grade data and analyze the results. The incumbent is also responsible for distributing end-of-semester surveys to students and faculty. The SI Program Assistant will be responsible for the promotion of the SI program to students and faculty. The Supplemental Instruction Program Assistant will report to the Manager of ACE Math Support Services. This position is a 1450-hour part-time position supported by the Title III grant.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collect and analyze attendance and grade data for regular Supplemental Instruction (SI) reports to the SI Supervisor and faculty
  • Create and maintain attendance tracking sheets for class sections with an embedded SI Leader
  • Conduct SI Discussion Session observations and provide feedback for every SI Leader each semester
  • Assist with the training and professional development of Supplemental Instruction Leaders throughout the semester
  • Provide SI leaders with any academic and/or technical resources needed
  • Distribute and collect end-of-semester SI surveys from students and faculty
  • Perform other duties as assigned

KSA's/Required Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience
