The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary:
In addition to carrying a clinical caseload, the Associate Director- Clinical Operations (AD- CS) serves as a key leader within the University's Counseling Center. The AD- CS calls for an individual who is an outstanding clinical professional who models the way for the team of professional staff psychologists. The specific responsibilities of the AD- CS call for a professional who is diligent and attentive to details that impact the Center's operations, who is a creative and thoughtful administrator, and who has an unwavering commitment to equitable student success in both clinical and academic settings.

The AD- CS assists with the creation of triage/crisis schedules for clinical staff. The position assists with oversight of the electronic health records system and assures that the staff have the appropriate access. The position serves a lead on the overall operations of the Center and is therefore responsible for evaluating, modifying, and training others on systems and related documentation that support the Center's operations. The AD- CS also has a role of primary lead on the Center's assessment of client satisfaction and related initiatives.

The AD- CS works closely with the Counseling Center's Executive Director and the Associate Director- Outreach and Training (AD- OT) on the inclusion of the University's strategic goals in the Center's programming and services. The AD- CO leads the Center's assessment plans and quality assurance initiatives and outcomes, with the goal of continuous quality improvement. The AD- CS is a champion for understanding how students' social identities impact their experiences at the University and within the clinical setting and for advancing student services to drive towards more equitable outcomes.

The AD- CS helps to promote short-term models of treatment, provides scholarly insights for the development of tele behavioral interventions for remote and online students, provides effective and timely clinical crisis interventions in culturally informed and sensitive ways, and is a leader in identifying new strategies to advance the Center and the University's approach to supporting students overall health and wellbeing. The AD- CS shares responsibilities as a point person for the Center and the University in the Executive Director's absence.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Provide individual, couples, and group counseling and psychotherapy, assessment, and crisis intervention at the highest legal and ethical level-50%
  • Perform administrative responsibilities, as outlined in the above summary.-25%
  • Design and conduct psychoeducational outreach program activities to facilitate student growth and development -5%
  • Provide outreach services to the campus community-5%
  • Provide training and supervision to graduate student trainees-5%
  • Coordinate one or more Center programs (e.g. Clinical, Triage/Crises, Practicum Training, Diversity Education, etc..-5%
  • Perform Case Management responsibilities-5%



The position promotes high quality treatment with adherence to Center policies and procedures that are consistent with state, national, legal, and ethical guidelines. The position stays current with research and professional trends in the field and utilizes this knowledge in the contribution to the development and revision of policies and practices accordingly. The AD-CS assists with the monitoring of usage trends and related program development; it helps to oversee the Centers computerized information systems for online service delivery, communication and record keeping; and also serves in the Directors absence. Other duties may be assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • Earned Doctoral degree in counseling, clinical, or closely related field.
  • Licensed or licensure as a Psychologist in Colorado within one year.
  • Experience delivering individual, couples and group counseling, crisis intervention, and evaluation to University students.
  • Experience supervising and training graduate students.
  • Experience designing and delivering psychoeducational activities.
  • At least Five years of Post-Doctoral experience
  • Experience delivering case and organization consultation.
  • Knowledge about and experience with diverse, multicultural populations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working as a team member.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Licensed as a Psychologist
  • Five years counseling center experience
  • Experience with supervision of graduate level trainees in psychotherapy
  • Strong commitment to building a team environment.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of equity, inclusion, and diversity concepts; and that they are broader than just race, ethnicity, and gender, and has concrete examples of actions they have taken.
  • Demonstrates willingness to challenge and change institutional practices that present barriers to different groups.
