Salary for Announcement: The salary range for this position is $49,600 $67,400 at Assistant Professor level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training. The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary:
The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure-track faculty position within the Special Education program. MSU Denver is a Hispanic Serving Institution located on a commuter campus in the heart of Denver, Colorado. Duties/Responsibilities:
The successful candidate must have the ability to effectively:

Teach 12 semester hours of day and/or evening undergraduate and graduate (MAT) courses in the Special Education teacher preparation program.
Teach courses in multiple formats including resident (on campus), online, and hybrid.
Courses the selected candidate may teach include foundations of special education; introduction to working with exceptional children; assessment and instruction; working with students with emotional/behavioral disorders; and math.
Demonstrate the experience and commitment to meet the educational needs of students from diverse student populations including traditional, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Latinx, adult, military, second career, second chance, concurrent high school/college students, and students with mental health, learning, or physical differences.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach courses in the Special Education program.
Identify placements and supervise clinical experiences and/or student teachers.
Work collaboratively and develop positive reciprocal relationships with schools and community agencies.
Effectively advise undergraduate and graduate students five scheduled hours per week, engage in appropriate University and professional service, and pursue scholarly activity and professional development.
Develop and implement a research agenda that culminates in peer-reviewed manuscripts and conferences.

Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Special Education or related field, or ABD (all but dissertation)

Preferred Qualifications:
A highly qualified candidate will have an earned Doctorate in Special Education or related field.
A minimum of three years professional teaching experience with school age children (Kindergarten-12th grade) is preferred.
Experience in one or more of the following areas: math, behavior, assessment, IEP and lesson plan development, inclusive education, and collaboration.
A record of scholarship that demonstrates knowledge of current issues in the field of special education and contributes to the field of special education.
Experience collaborating with public schools, private schools, charter schools, and/or centers and agencies that support the educational needs of students with disabilities is ideal.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach Special Education courses that will support the success of effective special education teachers.
Professional experience working with and being culturally responsive to children, families, and communities across a variety of school settings.
Experience with teaching adults and meeting the educational needs of a diverse urban population of university students.
Successful candidates must have a strong interest in and commitment to teacher education, collaboration, inclusion, and diversity.
