About the Opportunity:
The Office of the Provost at Northeastern University guides and implements the university's academic plan and is led by the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Office of the Provost oversees 9 colleges, information technology, budget and planning, research, academic affairs, and the library. This spans across 16 divisions and the Office of the Provost provides direct budget and HR support for 4 of those 16.

The Office of the Provost Budget, Planning, and Administration team is led by the SVP for Budget, Planning, and Administration and consists of the AVP for Budget and Planning, 2 Associate Directors of Fiscal Affairs and Administration, and an HR Associate. We invite you to become part of an integral team that supports the mission of the university and drives and implements policies that allow the university to advance education and research. The Senior Financial Analyst will provide budget and administrative support for the Office of the Provost and will report to the Associate Director of Fiscal Affairs and Administration.

Responsibilities:
Fiscal responsibilities include providing transactional oversight for operating, designated, restricted, and capital budgets, reconciling monthly budget and payroll statements, and initiating all budget transfers, journal vouchers, and purchase orders. The Sr Reporting and Financial Analyst will assist with producing reports for the quarterly forecast process, annual budget meetings, and faculty startup process, and will also manage the Provost Office transactional database. They will assist with the annual 3-year summary budget and detailed budget plan submissions, track and forecast account balances, and manage fiscal year closings to ensure balanced budgets. The Sr Reporting and Financial Analyst provides support to academic units to ensure accurate and timely funding transfers in support of faculty development awards, faculty startup commitments and closeouts, and other budget transactions. They monitor capital project commitments related to spending and closeouts and develop reports for the Provost Office Budget team and AVP for Academic Space Planning. They will serve as backup to the HR Associate and will assist with processing HR transactions during employee absences and/or peak periods. They will also serve as the Sharepoint Administrator for the Provost Office.

The Sr Reporting and Financial Analyst must be well organized, flexible, accurate, technologically skilled, and able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced high volume work environment. They will continuously evaluate existing operations and address opportunities for improvements that enhance division functions and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of financial/accounting experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel required; experience with relational databases, and Banner financial system preferred.
  • Willingness and interest to explore and learn new technologies for efficient and effective data management.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail essential.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, maintain confidentiality and work with diplomacy and tact required.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to sort out complex information are essential.
  • Ability to work in a results-oriented, fast-paced environment as part of a small but effective team.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to exceeding client/customer expectations.
