Senior Research Scientist


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Senior Research Scientist.

The Senior Research Scientist focuses on the mechanisms underlying neuronal regeneration in the zebrafish retina from an endogenous adult stem cell population. This work will involve molecular biology to clone genes, generate transgenic animals, perform transcriptomic and epigenomic analyses comparing quiescent and activated Muller glial cells.

Other responsibilities include but not limited to: mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects, actively collaborating with research colleagues at Johns Hopkins University/University of Florida/Ohio State University, maintaining rigorous notebooks and records of effort, generating novel research protocols, supervising laboratory technicians and laboratory manager, writing and editing research publications, assisting in grant writing, and presenting research results at national and international conferences.

The Senior Research Scientist will participate in concert with the Principal Investigator (PI) to develop the research aims and implement the necessary experiments that pertain to the defined specific research goals/aims of the PI's NIH grants. The Senior Research Specialist will play a crucial role in determining the effective and efficient use of resources, time, and facilities for successful extraction of research results. The independent judgment of the Senior Research Specialist is crucial to the success of ongoing research in the lab.

Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree is required with 3 to 4 years experience of postdoctoral research experience.
