Senior Associate Dean

Job Summary:

Under the general supervision and direction of the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions (to be referred to in this document as the School), the Senior Associate Dean (SRAD) will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, and executive oversight for all matters related to academic portfolio management and evaluation, academic innovation and integration, and compliance and accreditation. This position is responsible for the management of direct reports including, but not limited to, 3 FTE staff members (Director, Portfolio Management and Evaluation, and Accreditation; Director, Student and Academic Services; and Director, Academic Innovation and Integration). Providing strategic leadership and promoting excellence for the School's academic programs, the SRAD will also be responsible for all matters related to academic affairs / support services within the School.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:
Oversee and advise the Associate Deans with the objective of delivering best-in-class programming that is in alignment with the education goals of the School and the University.
Establish the methodology for evaluating, monitoring, and measuring the health of the Schools academic programs to ensure program performance (as set by the Dean) in areas including, but not limited to: enrollment, admissions, and successful / satisfactory student lifecycle.
Collaborate with the Schools Director, Operations to develop and manage fiscal resources for the Schools academic programming to ensure financial health and stability of the academic departments.
Collaborate with the Schools senior leadership team, department chairs, academic faculty and other offices within USF to ensure coordination of the Schoolsprograms with other university departments with the goal of addressing areas of content overlap and identifying possibilities for program integration.
Identify and act upon opportunities to evolve and enhance the Schools academic offerings to ensure that the School continues to offer diverse and cutting-edge programs.
Collaborate with the Dean and senior leadership team to create marketing plans for new innovative programs and service offerings with the goal of growing admissions and enrollment in these areas.
Compliance and Accreditation:
The Senior Associate Dean is responsible for the following to ensure that the School remains compliant
with all relevant accrediting and professional licensing bodies:
o Maintain knowledge of current, relevant professional standards pertaining to all School
programs,
o Advise and guide the School in meeting requirements, completing annual reports, and leading self-study and on-site visit preparations for accreditations, and
o Monitor USF compliance with State Authorization Requirements.
Academic Affairs / Support Services:
Establish and promote a structure for directing and escalating the appropriate communications to the Dean in relation to student issues and / or services with the goal of streamlining communication processes and decreasing the response time for student-related issues.
Establish and oversee standards and processes to ensure a structured and efficient approach to student services and increased student satisfaction with School operations.
Work with senior management to create and complete regulatory and other reports to ensure the school is meeting all requirements as well as being able to make better data driven decisions.
Oversee the recruitment and development of faculty to ensure the School continues exceptional student educational experience.
Provide strategic oversight of faculty participation in both committees and student support organizations to ensure equitable, consistent, and timely representation across the school.
Foster faculty pursuit of professional training opportunities and resources to increase their growth and
development.
Assist the Dean to create and implement initiatives that ensure we are increasing student enrollment, retention, and placement within the school and thereby the
University as a whole.
Oversee and guide direct reports to ensure that they are supported in meeting their objectives and delivering high quality service to the School.
Additional duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Doctoral degree in a relevant health profession or education-related discipline with credentials appropriate to appointment on faculty.
5+ years of related, progressively professional experience in health professions
education.

The preferred candidate will have:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with higher education processes, protocols,
and procedures.
Previous experience in a leadership position in higher education with faculty and staff
oversight strongly preferred.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to demonstrate a high level of conceptual and strategic thinking to participate in the
development of academic program policies, procedures, and standards as well as the
Schools mission, vision, and related strategic plans.
Experience in the administration of outreach and educational projects and programs,
including budgetary and planning responsibilities.
Experience in curricular development and evaluation.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to interact
with all levels: student, faculty, and staff.
Ability to mentor, coach, and advise faculty.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Demonstrated experience with business Process Management is a plus.
Organized and effective in managing multiple levels of activity in a dynamic environment.
Project Management knowledge.
Ability to be a team player, working with multiple stakeholders employing a positive
solution-oriented approach.
