Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Prospect Research, the Research Analyst identifies, researches, and analyzes information on prospective donors to Northeastern University. They provide research support to Prospect Development program, as well as to Advancement senior leadership, and fundraising staff, in order to inform development strategies and advance potential donor relationships. The Research Analyst responds to research requests in a timely manner, analyzing and synthesizing information, and generating documents in alignment with the prospect stages, as well as prepare background briefings for development events, as required. The Research Analyst qualifies, screens, and rates potential donors, and proactively identifies new prospective major and principal gift donors. As part of a collaborative team, they coordinate with Prospect Management staff to ensure that the best prospects are assigned to development officers, and play a critical role in the overall success of the Northeastern University Advancement program. The Research Analyst will have experience in using on-line resources; understand financial statements, proxies, SEC filings, annual reports, and other corporate documents such as in-house newsletters, websites, etc; and will prepare background briefings for development events. They will be accountable for quantity and quality of research conducted. Candidate will complete other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required, or at least two years prospect research or related experience. Preference for candidate with experience or educational background in research, library studies, law, journalism, or other research intensive studies. Ability to work independently; excellent communication, organizational and writing skills. Must exercise judgment and a high level of confidentiality in prospect research and reporting activities and have the ability to interface effectively with staff. Strong computer skills and demonstrated background in Internet-based research. Experience working with a relational database a necessity, as well as the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel. Experience with Sales Force preferred but not required.
