Position Summary:
We exist to provide the full range of Senior Systems Administration support for the Universities Linux Computer server infrastructure. These are the enterprise servers for the universities Banner system, Academic Learning, Single Sign on and World Wide Web services. This team supports all Administrative and Academic Linux servers. Linux servers provide core campus computing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You will also serve as a backup for windows enterprise server environment to perform daily tasks. You consult with end-users, managers, vendors, and other individuals from Information Technology Services (ITS) and as the University. You provide leadership to system administrators when installing and maintaining server hardware, operating system software and supported applications. You work with other system administrators and managers such as Security, Networking, Enterprise storage, Application Services and Help Desk and from other departments to support, establish levels of access, and provide training. You will also provide complete systems administration support for the Linux computer server platforms supporting the College's information systems, both academic and administrative. You will be a senior system administrator within the Linux system administration team and report to Enterprise System Operation.

Duties/Responsibilities:
50% Senior Linux Server System Administration:
Employee performs the full range of server systems administration work for Linux enterprise-level servers to support enterprise, database, and applications and services. This includes: Installation, configuration, verification, tuning, monitoring, upgrading and maintenance. Ensure that the universitys Linux servers are functional and adhere to all software, hardware, configuration, and documentation standards of the industry as they apply to MSUDenver procedures and standards
Administer third-party application installed on Linux server.
Maintain daily user management and access control on Linux Server.
Maintain disaster recovery plan.
Maintain business continuity plan.
Respond to server performance alerts using Manage Engine application.
Write scripts to automat tasks.
Ensure Linux server backups and restores are working correctly.
25% System Architect
You will design and architects new technology to promote the state of services delivered to the MSU Denver community. Define systems requirements for current and proposed initiatives based on user/client needs. Establish technical standards and functionality tests, including scheduling and coordinating ongoing testing. Design high availability for critical servers\services and application. Design and deploy maintain an understanding of how these systems integrate with Single Sign-on (SSO), on premise, Hybrid, and Cloud-based authentication. Position will design a cloud-based infrastructure to ensure business continuity and cluster services to the cloud.

20% System Stability and Security:
Analyze, monitors, studies, and appraises the performance of Server hardware, operating systems and network-based applications. Receive report findings from different tools and adjusts and/or modifies the corresponding software and hardware to tune for optimum performance. Work with manager to plan modification to optimize performance on all necessary Linux servers. Research new technologies to implement to increase system stability. Build a disaster recovery plans for each server and service that is managed by this position.

5% Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Three years Red Hat experience or equivalent
Three years Experience with VMWare

Preferred Qualifications:
One year Windows experience
Working knowledge of Banner
Working knowledge of Oracle
