Job Summary
The Scleroderma Program at the University of Michigan Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Rheumatology is seeking a dynamic individual to provide exceptional program support to the program director. The Program Manager must exercise considerable discretion, independent judgment and possess highly developed organizational and communication skills, along with a commitment to Michigan Medicine core values, including service excellence. Successful candidates will provide a full range of highly responsible program support to the Scleroderma Program Director. Where applicable, support includes comprehensive administrative responsibilities associated with their teams.

Responsibilities*
Project Grant Management:

Work closely with the division grant administrator on grant submissions and support. Update CVs following NIH biosketch requirements and complete other required grant documents as directed by the administrator and program director.

Financial Management:

Review monthly forecasting reports regarding appropriate effort distribution and funds within the program. Working with the division financial specialist to present this oversight and determine any risks/issues during regular meetings with the director and finance personnel. Other financial duties may include: liaison/oversight with Clinical Trial Support Unit (CTSU), account reconciliation, processing patient reimbursement, review invoicing of sponsors, resolving clinical research billing errors, ensuring revenue collection, and handling a variety of reports. Provide assistance in completion of progress and final reports as applicable. Supporting work within eresearch PAF and UFA (data use and material transfer agreements) creation as needed.

Administrative Support:

Provide administrative support to the Director of the Scleroderma Program within Rheumatology. Complex meeting and travel arrangements including international itineraries; Interacting with various outside organizations and professional societies regarding conference and meeting planning. Full meeting facilitation including scheduling and invites involving multiple calendaring systems, doodle polls and working with administrative staff across the University; room reservations; communicating meeting details and agenda, video and teleconferencing, minute taking. Serve as one of the initial and continuing interfaces between external organizations (academic, non-profit and Industry partners). Assist in ongoing management of partner relationships, follow-up with internal interfaces between various Michigan functions (ORSP etc.) and some oversight of internal team activities. Work closely with development officers in providing support for various initiatives for fundraising and other general work with donors and patient groups. Acquire knowledge of research and business trends in Rheumatology-related fields, within academia and the for-profit sector. Assertive, professional follow-up. Engaging in high-level verbal and written communications; confidentiality. Management of all communication, including emails, in a timely and professional manner. Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Publication and Presentation:

Assist the Director in providing creative, professional PowerPoint presentations and manuscripts. Knowledge of End Note is helpful though not required.

Required Qualifications*
Bachelor's Degree or Higher in Business or Life Sciences. Biomedical business background is a plus. At least 3-5 years working in an academic research environment. Must be comfortable working with patients. Demonstrated collaborative behavior and strong organizational, presentation and written communication skills. Ability to set priorities for themselves and others. Ability to interact with a wide variety of people and personalities both internally and externally. Function well within a fast paced, team environment. Flexibility to meet changing priorities within the group. Computer software fluency.

Background Screening
