Program Assistant IV, Immigration and Deportation Law Clinic

Job Summary:

The University of San Francisco, School of Law seeks a detail-oriented Program Assistant IV with strong interpersonal skills who has experience in immigration law. The Program Assistant IV provides full-time program management services as well as legal and administrative support to the clinic Supervising Attorney and will serve as a critical point of contact for clients and the community.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for providing program management services, including, but not limited to; overseeing office management protocols and procedures, coordinating and monitoring client service delivery, tracking client data in multiple data management systems and preparing and submitting regular grant reports to the Office of Contracts and Grants as well as state and city organizations
Responsible for coordinating travel for the Supervising Attorney and the Program Assistant IV throughout the state of California for hearings and client meetings
Assist the attorney with preparing petitions and applications for immigration cases before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and EOIR, as well as probate and family law cases throughout the California
Assist in providing orientation, training and support to law students enrolled in the Law Clinic
Provide administrative support services to the Supervising Attorney as needed, including scheduling client appointments, attending asylum interviews as interpreter, receiving and directing client calls, responding to telephone, e-mail, and in-person requests for clinic information and legal support inquiries
Assist Supervising Attorney and Faculty Supervisor with special projects or other responsibilities as directed, including outreach

Minimum Requirements:

Post High School education preferred
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in administrative support work in education, including at least two years in a senior administrative support role
Immigration law setting experience preferred
Experience working with high level executive officers and/or vice presidents
Ability to speak and write both Spanish and English fluently is required
Solid oral and written communication skills
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in MS Word and Excel is required
Excellent judgment and respect for confidentiality
Able to work independently in the absence of specific instructions
Demonstrated ability for careful, conscientious work even when managing multiple projects at one time
Professional and responsive demeanor and a cooperative spirit

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Commitment to immigration is necessary
May be required to lift objects up to 25 lbs. on occasion
