JOB SUMMARY

Be part of a thriving applied developmental research lab with a focus on early childhood education, including Head Start and home visiting. The University of Connecticut is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate who has strong quantitative expertise and interest in applied developmental research in low-income communities. The initial full-time appointment will be for one year starting on July 1, 2022, with the possibility of a renewal depending on available funding and performance. With the mentorship of Dr. Rachel Chazan Cohen, the position involves contributing to evaluations of high-quality early care and education programs and secondary data analysis of datasets related to the home visiting workforce. The position is physically located on the main campus of the University of Connecticut at Storrs, CT.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinating data collection in early care and education centers
  • Supervising and mentoring of graduate students
  • Managing data (data merging, organization, IRB submissions, survey development)
  • Analyzing data (descriptive, regression, multivariate analyses)
  • Preparing publications and conference presentations as well as research briefs intended for a broad audience (collaboratively and as lead author)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • A Ph.D. in psychology, education, human development, social work, or a closely related discipline by the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Expertise in quantitative methodology
  • Beginning track record of publication
  • Excellent academic writing skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with teachers and other practitioners
  • Experience in both large-scale datasets and small-scale original studies
  • Experience conducting program evaluations and/or research in low-income communities

APPOINTMENT TERMS

This is a full-time, 12-month position, with the possibility of renewal, dependent on funding and performance.
