Partner Marketing Strategist

The Partner Marketing Strategist is responsible for driving and delivering strategic B2B marketing support for the American Public University System, helping to ensure the team meets its business goals to acquire new partners and convert students within existing partners. This position will develop and oversee marketing strategies that map to increasing ROI for partner organizations and aggressive topline revenue goals. The strategist will own and maintain the vision for the partner go-to-market plan and the partner marketing lifecycle from concept to results management.

Essential Functions:
  • Drives and delivers the marketing strategy for acquiring new partners, engaging and activating existing partners, and re-engaging inactive partners
  • Project manages new partner acquisition, activation, and enablement sales and marketing tactics and processes
  • Partners closely with other marketing functional leaders (paid media, social media, content, SEO, email, creative, interactive) and sales team to continuously enhance and evolve marketing tactics
  • Owns the end-to-end test and optimization plans of assets, including concepting, roadmaps, and reporting results
  • Partners closely with analytics to develop dashboards and reporting to monitor and optimize lifecycle metrics
  • Collaborates with the Outreach team to maintain and build segmentations within APUS' total addressable market
  • An expert in the buyers we serve and champion a world-class buying experience
  • Oversees operational processes related to the acquisition and development of partners and the students they drive to our university
  • Manages sponsored events, speakership opportunities, and conferences, overseeing planning and execution for quantifiable results
  • Co-develops sales tools to support acquisition and lead generation efforts
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Work Environment and Physical Demands:
  • The opportunity can be performed remotely.
  • Requires high speed internet connection, a dedicated work space within place of residence, and the capability to telecommute.
  • Travel, as needed, to company office locations.
  • Position infrequently requires evening and weekend hours when events and project deadlines arise.
  • Ability to quickly respond to needs and attend live events and opportunities, particularly in the DC Metro region.
  • Must be within commutable distance from DC Metro region.


Required Skills:

Core:
  • Proficient in B2B and B2B2C strategy, as well as account-based marketing
  • Experience analyzing and/or managing marketing campaign executions
  • Ability to balance project deliverables among existing resources and within deadlines.
  • Strong and agile project management and communication skills with demonstrated ability to interact with marketing and sales teams
  • Strong client management skills in nurturing relationships and processes
  • Ability to thrive under ambiguity
  • Adept at the intersection of strategy and execution, comfortable both designing go-to-market strategies and leading their execution where needed
  • Excellent analytical skills to assess performance drivers and interpret results
  • The ability to work with all levels of management/staff and across departments to collect info and build consensus; the ability to motivate and drive teams to meet task deadlines.

Support:
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and Marketo lead flows helpful
  • Agency experience helpful


Education and Experience:

Required:
  • BA or BS degree with marketing or similar concentration
  • Demand-generation experience throughout the entire B2B and B2B2C campaign lifecycle, from concept to post-launch analytics
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects



Preferred:
  • 5-7 years of integrated B2B marketing experience
  • Solid experience initiating and managing customer relationships


Compensation and Benefits:
  • American Public Education, Inc. seeks to offer a competitive salary and benefit package. This opportunity pays between $60,000 and $68,000 annually commensurate with experience.
