Type of Assignment: Full-Time Faculty

Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges School of Nursing, Health, and Wellness invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time (10 months per year), tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2024. The department is seeking a registered nurse who has a strong clinical background in medical-surgical nursing and who has experience teaching nursing to students or new graduate nurses. Principle responsibilities include developing curriculum and teaching methodologies that ensure student learning and teaching in the clinical setting. Clinical instruction is provided at hospitals, long-term care facilities, and ambulatory settings. The person selected will share leadership roles with other full-time instructors in coordinating clinical instruction, developing curriculum, and using culturally responsive pedagogical techniques.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
1. a masters degree in nursing (the transcripts you are attaching must show that the degree was awarded); AND

2. a current, unencumbered, active California license as a Registered Nurse; AND

3. at least one (1) year of experience teaching courses related to registered nursing OR completion of a post-baccalaureate course which includes practice in teaching registered nursing; AND

4. at least one (1) year of continuous, full-time experience within the last five (5) years in a direct patient care practice as a registered nurse OR already be approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a clinical instructor; AND

5. demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff.
