The Metabolism, Endocrinology, & Diabetes (MEND) is seeking a qualified candidate to join a team of Medical Assistants to manage patient flow in a fast paced outpatient setting.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:
  • Patient intake (e.g. documenting chief complaint, vitals, hieght, weight, etc.)
  • Review and update Electronic Medical Record as directed
  • Facilitate specimen processing, bench lab tests and quality control monitoring, taking vital signs, and immunization/medication administration.
  • Obtain patient information.
  • Ensure supplies are ordered, stocked and maintained in exam rooms.
  • Perform patient tests, and provide direct assistance to the care providers.
  • Responsible for preparing examination room including to set up of medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications for the Medical Assistant Associate level.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Moderate standing/walking, as well as, lifting, positioning, pushing and/or transferring patients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.

To be considered at the Medical Asssistant Associate level:
  • 1-3 years of experience

To be considered at the Medical Assistant Level:
  • 0-3 years of experience

Desired Qualifications*
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant.
  • Experience working within a large, complex health care setting.
  • Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems.
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures.
