Position Description
This paraprofessional position holds responsibilities that may involve supervision of a work unit and/or the undertaking of specialized work requiring a high level of expertise, such as cataloging or processing of manuscript collections. Independent judgment and a comprehensive knowledge of tasks are used to accomplish the mission of the unit. Work is performed under general supervision within established policies with latitude for independent judgment. Evaluation is based upon a review of completed work and overall results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Works at service desks following an hourly rotation schedule.
  • Answers and triages incoming phone calls to the main library number.
  • Serves as an escalation point to Non-Primary Desk staff for customer service questions.
  • Supervises 30 to 40 student assistants and provides performance feedback to Library Associate Student Assistant Supervisors to patrons.
  • Assists patrons with reservation of Group Study Rooms; issues TexShare cards, community eRaider, borrowers cards, and guest WiFi to patrons.
  • Participates in writing and updating Access Services procedures and documentation.
  • Completes assigned projects within stacks management at the main library and remote storage facilities.
  • Submits End of Shift and End of Day reports and completes Incident Reports as needed.
  • Submits tickets through Fusion (LTMS) and Building Maintenance Services.
  • Maintains the inventory of reserve items at the service desk, performs point of sale transactions, enters statistical information, processes intake of Lost & Found items.
  • Performs frequent security rounds to ensure the safety of patrons and building staff.
  • May open and close building as needed.


Required Qualifications
Bachelors' degree in related field and one year related experience; knowledge and competencies of Microsoft Office. Relevant specialized work experience may substitute for education on a year for year basis. Additional job related education may substitute for required experience on a year for year basis. Ability to learn and work with computer applications unique to libraries or archives.

Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of TTU Library website and Library databases.
