Job Summary:
The Department of Accounting at Eastern Washington University's College of Business is currently inviting applications to fill one lecturer position to start Fall 2021.

Eastern is a regional, comprehensive institution where excellent teaching must be supplemented with an appropriate research program. The primary teaching area for this position will be accounting in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position will be expected to offer experience teaching online academic courses to a diverse college student body.

About the College of Business
The College of Business is located in the Catalyst Building in the downtown Spokane University District, and maintains an administrative presence in EWU's primary campus in Cheney, Washington. Faculty offices may be located on either Eastern's Spokane campus or on the Cheney campus, but all faculty are expected to teach at both locations.

The business program is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International).

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in Taxation, Accounting or other business related fields from an accredited university

At least 3 years of experience in the business profession with broad exposure to contract law, business organizations, regulations of business and bankruptcies, taxation, accounting, business ethics, employment law etc.
- To be considered qualifying, your experience must have been obtained between 2017-2021; the rationale behind this requirement, is based on the rapid evolution in regulations impacting taxation and accounting practices.
- For this requirement, usiness profession means private, public or governmental entities, preferably a Public Accounting firm; wherein the work experience focuses on the content described in this requirement.
- Work experience in an academic environment is not qualifying

Proven record of teaching and developing online courses

Knowledge and ability to teach accounting courses including Business Law, Ethics, Accounting Law, Managerial Accounting, and Financial Accounting.
- Your knowledge and ability to teach these courses will be assessed on a number of factors, including, but not limited to:
  - Courses taught previously as an instructor of record
  - Transcripts
  - Recent work history that corresponds to these subject matters

Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications:

PhD or other terminal degree in Taxation, Accounting or other business related fields

At least 3 years of verified teaching experience in business law, accounting, and ethics (part-time is considered par)

Possesses an American Certified Public Accounting (CPA) license

Good teaching evaluations

Ability to supervise accounting internships and independent studies in accounting

Publications in field of business law, ethics and/or taxation (SA designation under AACSB standards)

Responsibility / Duty:

Teaching: typical workload for this position will include up to 45 credits per academic year, subject to department needs.
Teaching includes the following additional responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA:
- Meet all scheduled classes
- Design and evaluate course content, as necessary
- Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance expectations and methods of evaluation including grading scales
- Schedule and attend office hours
- Turn in grades according to established deadlines
- Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.

Conditions of Employment:
Multiple work locations (main office located in the Catalyst Building in Spokanes downtown University District or at EWU Cheney Campus with shared office space available at the non-primary work location).

The required start date for this position is 09/16/2021. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/16/2021.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

Note: Interviews will be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2021-22, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.

Note: individuals invited to interview will be required to teach a simulated class on a subject selected by the search committee.

Salary Information: The expected salary upon hire is 74,263.
