Salary: Starting salary range of $31,800 - $34,980 is based on the Lee College Classified Staff Salary Scale, B22. Placement on scale is commensurate with education and related work experience.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
This is a grant-funded position.

Under the supervision of the Learning Support Services Manager, the Learning Support Services Technician will assist with the coordination and maintenance of Lee College's supplemental instruction, tutoring, and peer mentoring programs, as well as daily operations of the Learning Hub. The individual in this position will demonstrate a commitment to and knowledge of student-centered, asset bases, and inclusive approaches to learning support services and student success.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Support and abide by all rules, regulations, and guidelines of Lee College and serve as an appropriate role model for students and employees at all times.
  • Provide excellent service on behalf of the Learning Hub and Retention and Transition department by responding to all inquiries from students, faculty, staff, administration, and outside parties. This includes inquiries through face-to-face service, telephone, email, and online chats.
  • Provide problem-solving assistance for students, supplemental instruction coaches, tutors, peer mentors, and other employees.
  • Maintain web-based services for supplemental instruction, tutoring, peer mentoring, and Learning Hub resources.
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and services of the Learning Hub to increase student and faculty usage.
  • Troubleshoot technical difficulties in the Learning Hub and supplemental instruction classroom.
  • Assist with the training and supervision of the part-time supplemental instruction coaches, tutors, and peer mentors.
  • Provide quality assurance to ensure schedules and class assignments for supplemental instruction coaches, tutors, and peer mentors are followed.
  • Maintain general organization and cleanliness of Learning Hub and Supplemental Instruction classroom and assist with supply orders as needed.
  • Be available to assist with special events sponsored by the College or the Retention and Transition Department.
Additional duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Refer students to other academic and student support services as needed.
  • Observe tutor appointments, study sessions, and peer mentor activities and provided feedback to both the Learning Support Services Manager and the observed part-time employees.
  • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with faculty and student service programs and offices to disseminate information on learning support programs.
  • Collect student feedback, surveys, focus groups, and other data analyses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Excellent benefits accrue with this full-time position. This is a grant-funded position. Continuation of the position is based on the continuation of the grant and satisfactory job performance. This is a security sensitive position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Six (6) months of related work experience
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in departmental and internal departmental teams
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, in particular, Word and Excel, and website navigation
  • Work effectively with a diverse and multi-cultural student body and staff
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and weekends as needed


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates (or higher) degree
  • One (1) year of experience working in higher education learning support services setting, such as working with students, providing one-on-one assistance, coaching, or tutoring
  • Bilingual: Ability to read, write, and speak both English and Spanish
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
