About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Leadership Development & Collaborative Initiatives within the Center for Student Involvement (CSI), the Leadership Development Specialist serves as a member of the CSI team and directly supports the departmental mission through the development and oversight of student leadership development opportunities (LEAD360).

LEAD360 is a portfolio of free leadership programs designed to teach students the vital skills they need to become more socially responsible and well-rounded leaders on campus and beyond. Provide support for program participants, both in-person and virtually across the entire Northeastern network of campuses. Built upon the four foundational values of interdependence, accessibility, justice, and experiential learning, the LEAD360 programs provide a positive environment for students to develop as individuals, evaluate the ways they collaborate and interact with their peers, and identify the causes and topics that they are most passionate about.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
  • Student Leadership Development: Responsible for the creation, oversight, curriculum development, and day-to-day implementation of LEAD360's undergraduate first-year programs, including BLUEPRINT, BLUEPRINT Retreat, and BLUEPRINT II. As a member of the LEAD360 team, serve as lead facilitator for 1-2 program cohorts per semester, in addition to serving as lead facilitator for the BLUEPRINT Retreat and BLUEPRINT II. The Specialist will independently oversee a team of 10-15 volunteer faculty, staff, and student facilitators each semester, and will be responsible for providing direction and support for their assigned portfolio of LEAD360 programs. Provide administration of the Husky Leadership Initiative (HLI) program and will work in partnership with the Assistant Director to develop and organize 8-10 HLI workshops per semester.
  • Program Management: Support assigned portfolio of approximately 50 student organizations as their CSI Program Manager. Mentor student organization leaders, collaborate with key campus partners to review and coordinate student organization events, provide support with purchasing, and using sound judgment to interpret and enforce university event planning policies.
  • LEAD360 Marketing: Oversee the development, strategy, and execution of LEAD360's digital marketing efforts. Create impactful marketing campaigns designed to boost visibility and foster student engagement through direct oversight of social media accounts, maintenance of the LEAD360 website, monthly newsletter communications, and outreach on the Boston campus.
  • Additional Duties: Provide support to colleagues in the implementation of various signature programs (Homecoming, Fall Fest, Winter Involvement Fair, Student Life Awards, etc.). Assist to improve customer service by leveraging technology. May supervise 1 co-op student.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in higher education/student affairs or equivalent
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated experience working in student activities, inter/cultural education, and leadership development.
  • Experience supporting and facilitating student leadership programs highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and exceptional interpersonal, organizational, verbal/written communication skills.
  • As a member of the Division of Student Life, the Assistant Director will align his/her/their work with the established mission, vision, and literacies of the division.
