Position Summary:

The Department of Social Entrepreneurship at Rollins College invites interested individuals to apply for an adjunct faculty position teaching one undergraduate course - Law & Ethics of Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation - in the spring 2024 semester. This course is a required course for the Social Entrepreneurship major at Rollins. Approximately 18-20 students will take the course. It is possible to arrange teaching early in the morning to avoid conflicts with outside work schedules. This class is not offered in the evening.

The Law & Ethics course introduces the legal tools, frameworks, and implications of social innovation and entrepreneurship. Students learn basic legal content (constitutional, international, intellectual property, contract, and environmental), and legal status options for change making businesses and organizations. Students analyze international social, environmental, and economic movements shaping law and policy, and consider ethical theories relating to business operations.

The Social Entrepreneurship major is AACSB-accredited and combines business skill sets; entrepreneurial thinking and action; cutting-edge problem-solving methodologies; and understanding of current economic, political, cultural, and environmental issues. Ideal applicants will have professional experience related to Social Entrepreneurship, be dedicated to innovative teaching and building relationships, and are welcoming to opportunities that will allow them to work with a diverse campus and community. Teaching responsibilities include:
  • Teaching the Law & Ethics of Social Entrepreneurship & Innovation course to undergraduate students
  • Developing and managing the class syllabus and ensuring that the syllabus meets department and college standards
  • Utilizing project-based, experiential learning techniques
  • Planning and creating lectures, in-class discussions, and assignments
  • Grading assignments: homework, papers, quizzes, projects, exams, etc.
  • Assessing grades for students based on participation, performance in class, and assignments
  • Collaborating with department colleagues on course curriculum
  • Advising students on how to be successful in class

Minimum Qualifications and Education:
  • J.D., LLM, Ph.D., or Master's related to law or business, with combined JD/MBA preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of social entrepreneurship
  • Preferred: Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in the liberal arts
  • Preferred: Verifiable undergraduate teaching experience
