About the Opportunity:
For the Life Sciences Testing Center (LSTC) on Northeastern University Innovation Campus at Burlington, we seek an Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) System Analyst who will be responsible for proactively maintaining our LIMS (Orchard Sequoia) within our CLIA Regulated lab for our COVID Testing. Overall accountability focuses on assuring the laboratory data-flow functions as effectively and efficiently as possible relative to site collection logs to various equipment interfaces in the lab, reporting results, and overseeing multiple feeds/interfaces with ownership of SOPs and various regulatory requirements. Primary focus will be oversight of the integration of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with existing internal university IT systems and platforms, connectivity with each collection site, inclusive of label printing and troubleshooting, as well as external Department of Health feeds. The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker who has experience in establishing and monitoring data flow across different hardware and software within a life sciences environment.

The LIMS Systems Analyst will also focus on a range of in-lab or lab-related activities related to connecting, configuring and monitoring workstations operating on secure laboratory networks, ensuring lab and Collection Site / Authorized personnel have appropriate access, creating and applying security certificates, backing up and restoring computer configurations, monitoring various feeds and error reports, including HL7 interfaces, and troubleshooting all computer and technology problems. The selected candidate will work closely with Northeastern's Information Technology Services department (ITS), our LIMS vendor partner when needed, other datafeed partners. The candidate will also perform necessary updates, and manage the upkeep and change control process for relevant SOPs. All tasks will be performed in compliance with policies and regulations, such as those outlined in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA).

Responsibilities:
System Analysis & Oversight

  • Oversee the integration of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) with existing internal university IT systems and platforms, connectivity with each collection site, inclusive of label printing and troubleshooting, as well as external Department of Health feeds.

  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures relating to personally identifiable information, data security policies relating to IT and HIPAA compliance and compliance with policies and regulations, such as those outlined in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment (CLIA).

  • Focus on a range of in-lab or lab-related activities related to connecting, configuring and monitoring workstations operating on secure laboratory networks, ensuring lab and Collection Site / Authorized personnel have appropriate access, creating and applying security certificates, backing up and restoring computer configurations, monitoring various feeds and error reports, including HL7 interfaces, and troubleshooting all computer and technology problems.

  • Perform necessary updates and manage the upkeep and change control process for relevant SOPs.

    Systems Maintenance

  • Act as the liaison with the Northeastern's central information technology department as well as external software vendors, to validate and install software upgrades.

  • Provide user support and training to laboratory software applications.

  • Regularly test and evaluate software to ensure functionality and consistency with existing systems.

  • Utilize ticketing system for recording issues, and work to rectify systems errors promptly.

  • Contribute to and improve appropriately existing disaster recovery plans.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the laboratory and university structure.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party support and vendors and provide support to end-users.

    Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related subject
  • 2-5 years of experience providing Systems Analyst or Busines Systems Analyst support in a laboratory, lifescienes or healthcare environment and a solid understanding of clinical technology solutions
  • Laboratory Information Systems (LIMS) experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency supporting technology in day-to-day operations, with the ability to apply systems thinking for how multiple systems integrate and how feeds are setup, optimized, managed and trace/correct any issues
  • Mid-level, low-complexity Project management experience is preferred
  • Ability to anticipate, track, and plan for risks and issues and escalate issues in a manner that is effective
