Position Summary:
A Junior Course Developer is part of the Instructional Design group in the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design. They work as part of an agile instructional design team lead by a Senior Instructional Designer. They may report either to that Senior Instructional Designer or to an Instructional Designer, depending on their position. This position applies instructional design knowledge, experience and skill to support the mission of MSU Denver. They work closely with instructional designers and the instructional media team to handle responsibilities for work on courses, modules, and course curriculum for all delivery modalities.

Duties/Responsibilities:
70% Instructional Design and Course Development
Develops, tests and maintains courses primarily in online and hybrid delivery modes, including attention to issues such as content sequencing, flow of information and relevancy of media and other technologies.
Designs, develops and implements electronic instructional materials (e.g., animations, interactive elements, simulations, video, etc.) using content authoring and management tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Camtasia Studio, Blackboard Collaborate, HTML5, Moodle, SCORM, etc.).
Designs and implements modern instructional design and engaging user experiences while incorporating ADA Section 508 guidelines
Works with complex source material and within detailed development cycles, keeping both the process and the content highly accessible, streamlined, and focused for collaborators and stakeholders
Adheres to course development schedules while communicating effectively with stakeholders and colleagues.

20% Collaboration and Training
Recommends, reviews and implements instructional design processes and procedures
Works to develop a welcoming, collaborative environment across the entire CTLD
Works closely with the Senior Instructional Designer they report to in tracking the status of all projects
Plans and develops online training materials, which may include technical writing, in alignment with established guidelines and needs of the department, faculty, staff and students

10% Research and Other Duties
Supports events, conferences and workshops sponsored by the Center for Teaching, Learning and Design
Works to gain knowledge and expertise in instructional design
Other duties, as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in educational technology, instructional design, teaching, information systems, information technology, technical communications, or instructional technology. (Two years of work experience may be substituted for each year of education)
Experience implementing instructional design practices and course improvement models
Experience with learning management systems in at least one role
Experience with public speaking and giving professional presentations
Experience producing technical writing

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in educational technology, instructional design, teaching, or related field
Experience as an instructional designer
Experience using content authoring and management tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Camtasia Studio, Blackboard Collaborate, HTML5, Moodle, SCORM, etc.)
Experience using MSU Denvers current Learning Management Systems (LMS). (e.g., Blackboard Learn)
Experience running conferences or similar events
Experience applying course quality improvement using national standards (e.g., Quality Matters)
Experience with graphic design in an instructional design context
Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies and experience in discussing those with faculty
Knowledge of federal and state law related to usability and accessibility (ADA Section 508)
Experience using analytics to foster student learning (e.g., Blackboard Analytics)
Experience developing scripting, interactive web tools or other applications
