Essential Functions:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the instruction and operation of the NCCU Sound Machine. This instructor will also recruit for the band/ university and teach music education courses as appropriate in the music department

Minimum Education/Experience:
Master of Music Education or Conducting degree or higher (Ph.D., DMA, ABD by August 1, 2019) or equivalent

Demonstrable success in teaching at the collegiate or secondary level

Success leading or assisting with a collegiate athletic band program

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrable record of success in recruiting and retaining undergraduate and graduate students

Experience in teaching conducting at the undergraduate and graduate collegiate level

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge/Skills/Ability Proven record of applying band philosophy and practice, including but not limited to arranging music, conducting large and small performance groups, experience with band drill writing, computer drill design, and audio electronic sound design

Demonstrated record of creative professional activity in the field
Ability to direct marching, pep and concert bands and marching and teach music education courses
Ability to effectively support the Director of Bands with setting and achieving strategic goals for the band program, including supporting the planning and implementation of new and existing programs

Ability to recruit, work with and support students of diverse backgrounds and skill levels

Expertise within the symphonic and marching band genres with a concentration in woodwinds
