About the Position:
The Department of Psychology in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences is searching for an Instructional Support Assistant II. The ideal candidate for this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under general supervision, the Instructional Support Assistant II performs a variety of support services for the Psychology Department. Provides material, supply, equipment, and related logistical support for classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities. Preparation of materials may require specialized, discipline-specific methods and techniques. Assists with setting up new labs, classrooms, offices, and equipment. Assembles and maintains equipment as needed. Supports graduate students with course and research-related technology. Supervises and trains graduate Psychology Advanced Computer Lab (PACL) student(s). Maintains an inventory of equipment and supplies. Researches, prepares requisitions, and procures materials for animal lab classes, as well as departmental and research supplies. Works with campus animal coordinator to make sure all campus and state regulations concerning vertebrates and invertebrates are followed. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
One year of experience performing support services for an instructional program involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies, and equipment or the completion of two years of college coursework with 16 semester units in courses involving the extensive use of materials, supplies or equipment in a related discipline. Knowledge of the procedures and practices related to providing support services, ordering, issuing, and inventory. Ability to quickly learn the names, uses for, and care of common materials, supplies, and equipment used in the Psychology Department. Ability to plan, organize, and follow a schedule of activities. Ability to learn to operate and make adjustments to equipment. Ability to maintain records and project needs. Ability to correct and perform simple arithmetic calculations. Ability to read and write at a level suitable for performance of the position.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
