IT Solutions Consultant (1 year limited term)


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a IT Solutions Consultant (1 year limited term).

Applications will be accepted until 8/11/2017.

Working as an Office of Information Technology staff member assigned to a

department or a specific group of users, the IT Solutions Consultant provides

comprehensive, multi-tiered IT computing support at the level of

workstations, workgroups and department-wide systems (which may include

application or shared file services). This position manages projects related to

system upgrades, enhancements as well as investigation and

implementation of new applications to meet the needs of the Division they

serve. This position ensures IT data and system security and facilitates a

secure, efficient, reliable computing work environment. In an effort to apply

IT products and services for business continuity or process improvement,

this position engages in IT consultation, business analysis and needs

assessments to identify potential solutions which are compatible with ND

computing standards and infrastructure. All work is done in accordance with

accepted best practices and established guidelines. Expertise centers

around computers running current Microsoft and/or Apple operating

systems, but some level of Unix familiarity may also be preferred in some

cases.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • College degree or 2+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and job experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of Windows operating system.
  • Experience with a wide variety of devices such as iPads, point-of-sale and printers.
  • Diverse application experience including but not limited to: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, web browsers, and various utility programs.
  • Working knowledge of networking hardware and software, network protocols and network management.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new software packages.
  • Collaboration with senior staff members as needed to meet customer demands.
  • Demonstrated advanced customer service skills, with experience in technical support and case management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively to a non-technical audience as well as other IT staff.
  • Exhibits professionalism, courtesy and friendliness in one-on-one and group environments.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional organizational, analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Ability to perform under stress to meet customer demands and able to set priorities to self-manage day to day activities with minimal supervision.


Preferred Qualifications:
Business Analysis and Project Management experience a plus
