Job Description:




  • Position Code: HCVB
    Job Type: Part-time
    Schedule: Monday through Saturday; hours vary determined by coach and team.
    Position Location: Longmeadow, MA




Job Summary: The Head Volleyball Coach is responsible for coaching, recruiting, conditioning, and training student athletes. The Coach works under the supervision of the Director of Athletics.


Essential Duties:



  • Use coaching and teaching methods to develop student athlete's skills, character and teamwork.

  • Supervise/conduct practices, contests and travel to ensure student safety.

  • Schedule and organize team related activities.

  • Encourage and support in-season and out-of season conditioning and fitness sessions for each team member. These would be voluntary and required team sessions during and after the season within the NCAA guidelines.

  • Promotes players for recognition at institutional, conference and national level for academic and athletic recognition.

  • Develop team strategy and analyze performance of student athletes. Provide constructive feedback to student athletes.

  • Plan, coordinate and attend competitions and practices.

  • Encourage academic excellence, camaraderie, respect and acceptance in student athletes.

  • Recruit qualified student-athletes to participate on the team. This would be by attending admission events, recruiting events, tournaments/showcases, games and viewing websites.

  • Assist in fund raising activities to subsidize athletic programs and/or marketing and public relations activities to promote program.

  • Advise student athletes with personal, academic or athletic performance issues. Make referrals to appropriate University offices and services as needed.

  • Drive and transport student-athletes in college owned vehicle to practice or contest sites.

  • Attend professional development and training as required.

  • Comply with NCAA regulations and complete the NCAA Division III Rules test.

  • Other related job duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

  • Other Responsibilities: Travel and work flexible hours as required.



Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.

  • Two (2) years experience in coaching or related activities.

  • Knowledge of National Collegiate Athletics Association regulations, specifically Division III.

  • Be able to pass the NCAA Division III Rules test for coaches

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently, analyze situations and develop solutions.

  • Must be available to travel and work non-traditional hours.

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification.

  • Valid U.S. driver's license.

  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire (within 15-days) and annually thereafter. Failure to successfully complete the course within the 15-day period is grounds for immediate termination.

  • Submit to and pass criminal offender records check (C.O.R.I.).

  • Submit to and pass pre-employment drug screening.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and within FERPA and HIPAA regulations.

  • Should be committed to a culture of diversity, respect and inclusion; demonstrated ability to build working relationships with people having a wide variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences different from ones' own.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
