Job Description

The Executive Director Division of Workforce and Economic Development (DWED) reports to the President of the College. The position provides visionary leadership and administrative oversight of the revenue-generating programs at CSN to include economic development, corporate training, continuing education and apprenticeships. Prepares complex reports and presentations as required by state law and accrediting bodies in order to comply with Workforce Development and Continuing Education program requirements.

The position is responsible for overseeing the general operations of the DWED, while also focusing efforts on directing workforce revenue-based training and grant development; including but not limited to Business Services, Healthcare, Skill Trades, Apprenticeship, Community Training Centers; Adult Basic Education, Business and Industry Partnership, Community and Personal Enrichment. The position also oversees development of national best practice approaches such as noncredit and credit continuing education pathways, customized incumbent worker training, integrated education (IBEST & Ability to Benefit), and community education programs. The Executive Director provides leadership, develops strategies and executes business plans. Manages projects, budgets, and staff for assigned workforce programs and grants. Requires extensive collaboration with President, VPAA, and shared governance structure.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Business, Workforce Development, or related field, 4-5 years of related professional experience, and 2-3 years management experience in one or more of the following areas: economic development; workforce training & development; relevant industry sectors (i.e., healthcare. education, government) OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in providing leadership in strategic planning, program development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs designed to meet the needs of business, industry, community
  • Experience in development of budgets, business, and marketing plans
  • Experience in relating effectively with a wide diversity of constituents and stakeholders, while creating an inclusive work culture.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively advocate for the College's programs and services
  • Ability to interact and demonstrate respect for a diverse population
  • Ability to lead and work in a team-oriented, cross-functional environment
  • Experience in contracting procedures including contract development and monitoring
  • Experience in state/federal grant development, administration, and monitoring
