College Facts (as of Fall 2021)
● Instruction, administrative, and support services are provided by 205 full-time faculty, 368 adjunct faculty, and 313 full-time staff and management.
● Santa Barbara City College currently enrolls approximately 13,781 students, the majority of whom are from racially diverse populations as follows: African American/Black – 2.5%; American Indian/Alaskan Native: 0.3%; Asian/Filipino/Pacific Islander- 5.8%; Hispanic/Latinx – 39.5%; two or more races – 5.9.%; Unknown – 3.5%; and White: 42.4%.
● 45.2% of SBCC's students are under age 19, 29.5% are between the ages 20 and 24, 17.1% are between the ages of 25 and 39, and 8.1% are 40 or older.
● 34.4% of SBCC's students attend full time (12 units or more), and 65.6% of SBCC students attend part- time.
● Most recently, we were honored by philanthropist MacKenzie Scott with a gift of $20 million in recognition of the excellent work that we do involving diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
● In 2018, Santa Barbara City College celebrated 100 years of Adult Education in the Santa Barbara community.
● The College recently adopted the Umoja program, a transfer success program geared toward African-American and other black students.
● In 2009, SBCC gained the status of Hispanic Serving Institution, which among many other benefits, made the college eligible to apply for federal grants geared toward strengthening institutional capacity and building programs to increase the success of Hispanic and other underrepresented students.

SALARY & PERSONNEL BENEFITS:
The current salary schedule range for an entering tenure-track faculty member is $60,856 - $95,406 plus an earned doctoral bonus of $3,042.80. Depending on the entry step, the faculty member advances one-step each year and has the potential to reach the current maximum step of $121,454, depending on the educational level attained. Starting salary is commensurate with academic preparation and full-time related, paid experience. In addition to salary, each full-time employee participates in a "cafeteria style" health and welfare benefits program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:
Commencing July 1, 2022, a full-time, tenure-track faculty position, with an additional 20 extended contract days paid at salary daily rate, will be available in the Disability Services and Programs for Students (DSPS) Department. The Coordinator will assume primary responsibility for planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and coordinating educational support services for students with disabilities; providing direct counseling/advising, assessment and instruction to students with disabilities; facilitating the interactive process to determine fundamental requirements and reasonable accommodations for college students with disabilities; hiring, training and supporting contract faculty, staff and hourly DSPS employees; providing in-service training for faculty and staff; managing the DSPS budget, general fund allocations, federal, state and other grants; providing expertise for college personnel in meeting the requirements of federal and state disability related laws; liaising with appropriate community agencies; developing and assessing student learning outcomes (SLOs); developing curricula; preparing reports, research, student satisfaction surveys and program plans.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

The candidate must meet the following criteria:
OPTION 1:
1. Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, OR
Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, OR
A Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); AND
Either fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduate level coursework specifically related to people with disabilities, or
Completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a postsecondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or
in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, or two years of full time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following;
(A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or
(B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.
Combination of education and other accomplishments that is equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement that presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, and other work products.)
Demonstrated commitment to equity-focused leadership, responsiveness, and sensitivity, to every aspect of human diversity and actively promotes an inclusive educational and working environment.

OPTION 2:
1. Possession of a master's degree; ANDOne year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment AND
two (2) years full-time experience or the equivalent within the last four (4) years in one or more of the following fields:
(1) instruction or counseling or both in a higher education program for students with disabilities; (2) administration of a program for students with disabilities in an institution of higher education; (3) teaching, counseling or administration in secondary education, working predominantly or
exclusively in programs for students with disabilities; or
(4) administrative or supervisory experience in industry, government, public agencies, the military, or
private social welfare organizations, in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively related to persons with disabilities.
2. Combination of education and other accomplishments that is equivalent to the above. (If claiming equivalency, attach a separate statement that presents the basis for this claim and submit supporting evidence, e.g., transcripts, publications, and other work products.)
3. Demonstrated commitment to equity-focused leadership, responsiveness, and sensitivity, to every aspect of human diversity and actively promotes an inclusive educational and working environment.
If the title of your degree as stated on your transcripts does not exactly match one of the degree titles listed
in the minimum qualifications, you must complete an equivalency statement and attach it in the "Equivalency field" under the documents needed to apply. Degree titles that are not an exact match will not be considered outside of the equivalency process.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
● Commitment to the community college mission.
● An understanding of the implications a Hispanic-Serving designation suggests for institutional,
departmental, and instructional practices.
● An understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion of racially and/or ethnically minoritized
students within Higher Education shape patterns of participation and outcomes within the classroom.
● Evidence of working effectively with racially and/or ethnically diverse populations.
● Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of students with different ability statuses (e.g.
physical and/or learning).
● An understanding of anti-racist and culturally-responsive pedagogical practices which honor and
respect what students bring to the classroom and uses students' prior knowledge and/or lived
experiences to inform instruction.
● Evidence of working effectively with post-traditional students.
● Equity mindedness towards program development and inclusion.
● Possess vision, leadership and communication skills to effectively address faculty, and student and
institutional compliance issues.
● At least one year's experience providing counseling/advising, instruction, or psychological
assessment to students with disabilities in higher education
● At least one year's experience in management or administration in an educational setting.
● Knowledge of laws and regulations governing Disabled Student Programs and Services in California
Community Colleges, including Section 508 compliance.● Demonstrated experience with utilization of teaching techniques and methods that enhance student learning and are effective in responding to diverse learning styles.
● Demonstrated experience with development and implementation of student learning outcomes and utilization of results for improvement of students learning.
● Experience working with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic, academic and disability backgrounds including intervention, retention and success strategies.
● Experience working with budget management and categorical programs
● Experience working with computer software and other technologies which are utilized in the
provision of educational services to students with disabilities.
● Experience working with students from diverse cultural, ethnic, socioeconomic and academic and
disability backgrounds.
● Experience providing campus wide in-service training on educational barriers, access and
institutional responsibility.
● Community college experience working with multiple state sponsored initiatives, grants and college
foundations.
● Ability to communicate with college professionals about DSPS needs and advocate to administration,
faculty, and staff for student success outcomes.
● Ability to communicate using American Sign Language
● Ability to communicate in Spanish.

Selection Procedure:
Online applications will be initially reviewed by the selection committee, who will recommend candidates for personal interviews at SBCC. After the initial interviews have been conducted, the committee will identify the candidates who are best qualified for the position. The hiring supervisor and the Superintendent/President will interview the finalists, conduct reference checks, and make the final selection recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
