Job Description:
APPOINTMENT: May 1, 2019

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Director of Development will report to the Executive Director of Development in the WIU Foundation and Development Office. Provides overall leadership for the College of Fine Arts and Communication's fundraising program, with primary emphasis on fundraising through securing major gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations to support academic priorities of the College and the goals and objectives of the University's strategic plan "Higher Values in Higher Education."
Plans, implements and directs meetings and activities relevant to fundraising priorities and needs for the College of Fine Arts and Communication (COFAC) and Western Illinois University.

Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree required.
A record of success in higher education or non-profit fundraising or experience in marketing or outside sales.
A desire to build relationships and convey a passion for WIU and the College of Fine Arts and Communication with the purpose of raising funds for the College.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and to coordinate efforts of diverse groups of alumni, volunteers, faculty and staff.
Computer proficiency applicable to the position required.
Weekend and evening work is required, in addition to extensive travel (25 ? 50%).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate degree
A demonstrated record of success in cultivation and closing significant major gifts, and knowledge of best practices for higher education fundraising.
Evidence of progressive professional experience in higher education preferred.
Understanding and appreciation of the College disciplines and the role of the College within the University.
Commitment and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience in strategic planning and goal setting.
Ability and experience with managing budgets.
Knowledge of gift planning techniques and tools.
Ability and experience with understanding and interpreting financial and investment information and communicating it effectively.
Experience in a comprehensive development program in higher education.
Ability to develop effective partnerships with internal and external constituencies

Macomb is located approximately 75 miles from the Quad Cities International Airport (Moline, IL) and 70miles from the Greater Peoria Regional Airport (Peoria, IL).

WIU-Quad Cities (Student Population: 1,267): The only public university in the Quad Cities area, WIU-QC offers select undergraduate and graduate programs, including a doctorate in education and a doctorate in environmental studies, at its metropolitan campus in Moline, IL
