Tarleton State University seeks an experienced researcher, educator, and administrator to serve as Dean of the Graduate College. The Dean will develop and implement a vision for graduate education that contributes to achieving the goals of the institutional strategic plan Tarleton Forward 2030.

The ideal candidate is a person who thinks creatively and energetically about the challenges of the changing demographics in higher education. This position reports to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supporting the Provost's Office and academic colleges in development and monitoring of strategic initiatives to achieve enrollment targets for students in graduate research and professional programs, assuring strong programmatic alignment with students' needs and market demands. Streamlining processes for admission, enrollment, retention, and graduation with a focus on continuous quality improvement and data-informed decision making, works with the Provost's Office and academic colleges to identify and minimize barriers that prevent underrepresented students from entering and completing graduate research and professional programs at Tarleton, works with the Provost's Office and the Division of Research, Innovation, and Economic Development to actively manage graduate assistant positions across campus, and strategically uses positions to advance teaching, learning, and research. Supervises office staff and ensures that exemplary service is provided, represents the Graduate College effectively both internally and externally. Serves on institutional committees; collaborates with other system, state and national graduate deans and performs other duties as assigned.

Applicants must have earned a doctorate or relevant terminal academic degree from an accredited institution; must have earned the academic rank of Associate Professor or higher and have prior experience teaching at the graduate level. Ten years of related broad experience in higher education including both teaching and scholarship, as well as previous experience in university administration, is required. Knowledge of a wide range of academic polices and the ability to interpret and administer them with reasoned judgment. Knowledge of distance learning practices and skilled in distance learning innovation. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and meticulous record keeping. Ability to manage diverse academic programs, administer budgets, and manage personnel effectively. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Ability to prioritize. Ability to lead large groups. Record of impactful research or creative scholarship. Proficient in innovative instructional delivery.
