Salary for Announcement: The salary range for this position is $49,600 $67,400 at Assistant Professor level. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based upon a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, education, experience, specialty and training. The above salary range represents the Universitys good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary:
The School of Education at Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a full time, tenure-track faculty position within the Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education (CLD) program. MSU Denver is a Hispanic Serving Institution located on a commuter campus in the heart of Denver, Colorado. The University is particularly interested in applicants who have intention to activate principles of equity and inclusion and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Duties/Responsibilities:
A successful candidate must have the ability to effectively:

Teach 12 semester hours of undergraduate and graduate CLD day and/or evening (with possible Saturday and optional summer) courses in the teacher preparation program.
Teach courses in person (on campus), hybrid, or completely online format (synchronous and/or asynchronous)
Teach courses which may include Foundations of CLD, Assessment of CLD Students, Second Language Acquisition, ESL Methods and Language and Literacy development for CLD Students
Work collaboratively with schools and community agencies
Work effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach CLD courses and design CLD curriculum
Advise undergraduate and graduate students five scheduled hours per week
Demonstrate the experience and commitment to meet the educational needs of students from diverse student populations including traditional, first generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, Latinx, adult, military, second career, second chance, concurrent high school/college students, and students with mental health, learning, or physical differences
Supervise clinical experiences and/or student teachers
Demonstrate commitment to teaching and advising, research, and service to the Department, School, University and professional community
Develop and implement a research agenda that includes publication of peer-reviewed manuscripts and presentations at peer-reviewed professional conferences


Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education, Bilingual ESL Education, or related field, or ABD (all but dissertation) is required


Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education/ Bilingual /ESL Education or related field
Minimum of three years professional teaching experience in linguistically diverse settings
Bilingual/biliterate proficiency in Spanish; (Bilingual Endorsement classes taught in Spanish)
Professional experience working with children/youth, families, and communities in a variety of linguistically diverse settings
Willingness to collaborate in partnerships with K-12 schools and community agencies
Exhibit knowledge about issues in the field of culturally and linguistically diverse education
Work with and committed to the educational needs of a linguistically and culturally diverse urban population, including first-generation, adult, working and other identity representations
Work effectively with colleagues to develop, evaluate, and teach CLD courses that will effectively support the success of all teachers
