Counselor/Coordinator
Primary Function:
The Program Adviser conducts orientation sessions with middle and high school students, screens and evaluates new student applicants, and implements academic year off campus class instruction, tutoring, and counseling sessions. The Program Adviser has primary responsibility for scheduling and conducting field trips for educational and cultural activities, arranging transportation for students in the summer program, and conducting academic counseling sessions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. A bachelors degree in education.
2. Three (3) years of full-time professional experience as an elementary or secondary instructor, including one (1) year in academic counseling performing student needs assessment or college preparation and placement.
3. Demonstrated work experience that relates directly to providing services to culturally and academically diverse high school students.
Education and Experience Preferred:
- Masters in education
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Min of one (1) six-week summer residential experience working with students and staff
- Professional work experience within TRIO or similar programs;
- Background similar to student population to be served including from low-income family or first in immediate family to attend college.
Working Hours: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., including weekends & evenings, and summer residential
