Position Summary:
The mission of the SI program is to support student success and retention in courses with historically high DFW rates and courses that constitute a significant challenge for multiple student groups by providing peer-facilitated study sessions that promote collaborative and interactive learning. The Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Student Support and Retention in Roadways and will provide visionary and innovative leadership in developing, implementing, and maintaining an exemplary and comprehensive Supplemental Instruction program. The Coordinator of Supplemental Instruction will manage the day-to-day operations of the Supplemental Instruction program. This position will collaborate with other campus constituents and entities to identify innovative models of supplemental instruction that will best meet the needs of MSU Denver students.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Leadership and Supervision:
(25%) The Coordinator supervises a program Specialist and about 50+ SI Leaders (student employees) and other program student employee positions. They will manage the recruitment, selection, hiring, and training processes for both professional Specialists and student employees. The Coordinator will plan and conduct on-going trainings to prepare student employees for their roles. They will also monitor and track the development of all student employees, meeting with them regularly to provide professional development resources as needed. The Coordinator will work collaboratively within the Roadways team, as well as across campus, to plan and prioritize initiatives that result in an optimized academic support program.

Needs assessment and development of Supplemental Instruction programming:
(25%) The Coordinator, alongside other staff and faculty, will identify courses with historically high DFW rates and courses that constitute a significant challenge for multiple student groups. Using information on historical student performance trends, social-emotional elements of academic performance, availability of resources, and best practices in supplemental instruction, the Coordinator will identify courses that may be supported by Supplemental Instruction in fall and spring semesters. To this end, the Coordinator will foster and maintain strong relationships across the University. They will actively engage with and provide necessary information to Deans, Departments, and Faculty, in order to gain and sustain support for the Supplemental Instruction program. When needed, the Coordinator will establish and maintain relationships with relevant external people or organizations.

Budget management:
(10%) The Coordinator will work with the Director of Student Support and Retention in Roadways to establish the Supplemental Instruction program budget on a yearly basis. They will monitor the expenditure of funds to guarantee accountability and proper use of the allotted program budget.

Marketing and communication:
(10%) The Coordinator will collaborate with the Roadways Outreach Coordinator to help promote and brand the Supplemental Instruction program. This collaboration may include speaking or presenting to students, departments, and faculty.

Data, Tracking, and Assessment:
(20%) The Coordinator will collaborate with Roadways colleagues, the University Business Intelligence unit, the data warehouse, and other constituents to gather, track, and analyze data associated with the SI program. This position will maintain internal program databases and create any additionally needed data management tools. This position will report appropriate data to any relevant stakeholders, including data sharing agreements with campus and community partners.

Professional Development and Other Duties as Assigned:
(10%): The Coordinator will remain current regarding trends and developments in higher education, high-impact practices related to transition and retention, and supplemental instruction programs. The Coordinator will remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, the development of professional contacts with colleagues, attendance at professional development courses/conferences, and trainings as directed by the Supervisor. The Coordinator will represent the interests of Roadways and will perform additional duties as assigned by the Associate Director, including but not limited to service on various University committees/taskforces related to student retention and academic support issues and/or event planning.

Required Qualifications:
Masters degree
Experience leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining a support service or program for students or clients that involved a highly collaborative environment.
Experience providing supervision, coaching, and performance management for professional or student staff.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in or with a supplemental instruction program at an institution of higher education.
Experience providing support services to students that directly impacted success and retention such as advising/coaching, career planning, referrals to resources, assistance with financial aid, goal planning and tracking academic progress.
Ability and desire to work with a diverse student body (including, but not limited to: working adults, women, persons with disabilities, active duty/veteran military personnel, students with multiple and varying ethnic, racial and national backgrounds, etc.) to increase student retention and completion.
Knowledge of student learning and development theories.
Experience working with Instructors/Faculty in higher education.
Experience with budget management.
Experience with data tracking and assessment.
Experience developing content for and facilitating trainings, presentations and workshops for groups and large organizations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
