Position Description
Performs supervisory and coordinative work in the operation of a specific program or departmental project. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions
Assists the Unit Manager in coordinating student assistants daily workflows, job duties and expectations thereof. Assists in operations of activities and equipment such as 3D printers, lasers, CNC machines, all shop tools etc. and maintain the overall cleanliness and safety within the digital fabrication lab and woodshop (maintenance and repairs of equipment). Communicates needs with Unit Manager for securing a sufficient level of supplies and consumables for the department.

Monitors and ensures that the woodshop and digital fabrication lab are safe, secure and harassment free environment. Works collaboratively with the CoA staff, other campus units, and faculty to share ideas and promote academic success and research.

Maintains and improves upon a working knowledge of all tools, equipment, lasers, 3D printers and CNCs in the courtyard level shops. Performs building emergency management duties as needed.

Assists the Unit Manager in supervising student assistants, coordinates assistants, schedules and conducts training for students, faculty, and staff while working in the shops. Assures daily tasks for student assistants are carried out in a timely manner.

Required Qualifications
High school graduation plus five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; additional related education may exchange for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a woodshop. Knowledge of most woodworking tools and equipment. Ability to coordinate shop assistants and daily workflows and shop safety.
  • Experience and training in managing fast paced workload. Experience with CNC milling machines, laser cutters and 3D printers.
  • Basic first aid training and CPR certification is preferred.
