California State University, Monterey Bay is seeking an open-rank professor for the developing Master of Science Physician Assistant (MSPA) program. The College of Health Sciences and Human Services (CHSHS) at CSUMB is developing the MSPA Program in the response to the explicit need for advanced practice clinical providers in the Tri-County area. The candidates should be prepared to join a group of dedicated and collaborative colleagues in a progressive educational environment where working together is viewed as a benefit. The MSPA Clinical Coordinator position is offered for a minimum of one year, contingent on continuing ARC-PA accreditation. We seek highly motivated, energetic, and optimistic individuals to join our team as a 12-month per year full-time Clinical Coordinator. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the PA profession and eager to pass on that enthusiasm to the next generation of PAs. Open to all levels of experience. Mentoring by a senior clinical coordinator will be provided. Highly competitive salary with rank commensurate with education and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach didactic and clinical courses
  • Teach, evaluate and advise didactic and clinical year students
  • Develop content, implement and evaluate the clinical curriculum
  • Recruit, orient, and evaluate clinical preceptors and provide them with feedback
  • Conduct clinical site visits to evaluate student performance
  • Assign and schedule rotations through EXXAT
  • Participate in regular accreditation activities necessary in continuing program accreditation
  • Engage in scholarly activities and service
  • Participate in the Student Progress Committee, Admissions Committee, Accreditation Preparation Committee, and/or Curriculum Committee
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Report to the Program Director


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Physician assistant with a masters degree or higher from an accredited academic institution, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the state of California by time of appointment


Preferred Qualification:
  • Two years experience teaching PAs in an academic setting
  • Two or more years of clinical experience as a board-certified PA
  • Track record of scholarly activity and excellence in teaching
  • Ability to network with outside organizations and facilities
  • Knowledge and experience providing health care for diverse populations, especially Latino and other underserved groups who have been historically marginalized and lack access to culturally relevant health care
  • Previous experience as a clinical coordinator is preferred; however, training and mentorship will be provided
