Job Description:

  • Job Type: Part-time

  • Hours: Varied - Up to 5 hrs per week

  • Schedule: Evenings and some Saturdays

  • Position Location: Concord, MA


Job Summary:


The Business Assistant is responsible for providing administrative, general office, support to the faculty, students and staff on evenings and Saturdays/Sundays when classes/sessions are in progress. The Business Assistant acts as a representative of the university providing excellent customer service. This position assists the Concord Campus full-time staff in the operations oversight of the campus during scheduled hours.


Essential Duties:



  • Greet students prior to the start of each class and provide excellent customer service to students and faculty.

  • Provide technology assistance to faculty and students: logging on to the network, assistance with classroom technology, WiFi connections. and using BPU laptop computers.

  • Open the building at the start of class or close the building at the end of class (depending on what shift is being worked) and ensure doors are locked and building is secure.

  • Answer phones and assist callers in a professional manner. Record and deliver accurate and complete phone messages in a timely manner.

  • Photocopy or scan documents (some confidential information) as needed.

  • Respond to faculty and student questions and concerns.

  • Serve as liaison between BPU-Concord and BPU-Longmeadow when facilities and technology issues arise.

  • When closing the building, check classrooms and kitchen area to ensure that equipment is turned off and general environment is in good order.

  • Must be willing to drive locally to assist with occasional weekend events or errands.

  • Assist with projects as assigned.

  • Assist with proctoring exams if needed.

  • Attend trainings as required.

  • Be able to respond to emergency procedures, if needed.



Requirements:



  • High School graduate or GED.

  • Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, Saturday's required.

  • Willingness to be alone in building during business hours.

  • Willingness to conduct light housekeeping responsibilities.

  • Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues and enter IT tickets if needed.

  • Valid U.S. Driver's license.

  • Must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter.

  • When operating a University owned, leased or personal vehicle at any time while performing your duties you must follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual. You must have a valid U.S. driver's license and must successfully pass the online safe Driving Course and driving record check at time of hire and annually thereafter. Additionally, you must report any driving offense, on or off company time, which causes a loss, suspension, or any other change in your license status. You must report this change within one business day of the offense. You can report this change to the Human Resource Department or your direct supervisor. Failure to do so can lead to disciplinary action, up to and including terminations.

  • Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
