Primary Function:
Responsibility for timely and accurate business operations, coordination of budget preparation, financial reporting, budgetary and operational advisement to the Vice Provost, Office of Undergraduate Studies (OUS) and the Vice Provost, Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE). This includes guidance to directors and operating staff where appropriate.


Duties and Responsibilities:
This position has broad responsibilities for business matters as they relate to the vice provosts and the units reporting to the vice provosts. It is assumed that, given the diversity of the units reporting to the vice provosts, the individual holding the position will develop an extensive working knowledge of the institution as well as the business procedures of the university. Additionally, the person will develop a thorough understanding of the various funds types and business transactions related to each fund type. The person should demonstrate knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping, and computerized handling of budgetary data, various software knowledge, and PeopleSoft skills. The person should develop a thorough knowledge of university forms and reporting requirements pertaining to budgetary matters, including budget transfers, procurement, and human resource services. Since this person is a representative of the vice provosts, he/she should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and interact skillfully with various university constituencies as well as the public. It is imperative that he/she regards all information about budgets and personnel matters as strictly confidential.


Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelors degree in business administration, management or a field related to the position
2. Two years of professional level accounting, managerial and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level
3. One year of cost center budgeting experience as well as grant fund experience.


Education and Experience Preferred:
Three years of responsible accounting and/or business experience, one year of which was at an administrative level
