Associate Vice President, Inclusion and Belonging


Cornell University seeks an Associate Vice President for Inclusion and Belonging (AVP) who will lead the Department of Inclusion and Belonging (I&B) for Cornell's staff. Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer (VP/CHRO), the AVP will closely collaborate with the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and provide guidance and support to the VP/CHRO, VPAA, university leadership, and HR Leaders in the colleges and units on workforce diversity climate. As one of the Presidential Advisors on Diversity and Equity (PADEs), the AVP will be responsible for providing strategic vision to foster an inclusive community in support of Cornell's commitment to a diverse workforce. Working closely with the VPAA, who serves as the cabinet representative of the Presidential Advisors on Diversity and Equity (PADEs), together they will develop comprehensive workforce strategies designed to recruit and retain an increasingly diverse workforce.

The AVP will lead efforts to develop, offer, and support campus policies, programs, services, and activities that educate faculty and staff on the principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion and cultivate a climate of awareness, understanding, and respect for all individuals and groups. They will capitalize on significant accomplishments already achieved to build a culture of inclusion and belonging at Cornell thereby integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion work into everything Cornell does. The AVP will be confident and capable of communicating comfortably across a range of audiences in helping to further shape and elevate inclusion and belonging at Cornell both on campus and with the external community. Engaging, empathetic, and entrepreneurial, the AVP will approach all strategy and work with a DEI lens that will make inclusion and belonging prominent at Cornell and significant for all.
