Responsibilities:

The Department of Residential Life, which curates a living-learning environment for more than 9,000 students, is seeking an Associate Director to lead the department's residential operations and talent development efforts. Reporting to the Director of Residential Life, the Associate Director is a member of the department leadership team and exercises oversight, provides support and assistance to professional staff, residents and student leaders.
The Associate Director will oversee critical functions within Residential Life, including: professional staff recruitment and development, Student Resident Assistant recruitment and development, as well as managing facilities operations for the residential campus.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Associate Director will serve as an advisor to the Resident Student Association (RSA), a student-run organization dedicated to fostering a positive and engaged residential community. As part of the role of advisor to RSA, the Associate Director with liaise with the National Residence Hall Honorary with the intention of advancing leadership capacity of those involved with RSA and supporting the goals of the Department. This expectation will require night and weekend commitments to attend meetings, conferences and chaperone events.
This position will oversee the Assistant Director responsible for the recruitment, selection, and development of all Professional and Graduate staff. They will oversee the recruitment and selection of staff via, posting positions, collecting and reviewing resumes, creating interview process and questions, and identifying candidates who can be successful in the role. They will support the Assistant Director to create a comprehensive training program to acquaint new staff with the workings of our department and provide training for all returning and new staff members. They are charged with providing professional development opportunities for all staff throughout the year.
This position will oversee the Assistant Director who is responsible for the Resident Assistant Recruitment and Development. This Assistant Director is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and training of all student staff. They will assist with the management of the recruitment and selection of staff by advertising positions, collecting and reviewing applications, creating substantive interview and group processes, and identifying candidates who can be successful in the role. This person will also oversee the training and development of all student staff in the department. They will support the Assistant Director in creating a comprehensive training program to acquaint new staff with the workings of our department and provide updated training for all returning and new staff members. This person is charged with providing continued development opportunities for all staff throughout the year. This person is also responsible for overseeing the appraisal process of all student staff during the academic year.
The Associate Director will also guide the Graduate Assistant Growth Experience (GAGE) program and meet regularly with department graduate assistants to help them maximize their time at Northeastern.
his position will oversee the Facilities Operations Manager who is responsible for coordinating the following Residence Life Processes: Move in, Move out and Move to from. Acts as a liaison with Facilities Department to address the physical aspects of the halls. Support the Facilities Operations Manager in addressing facilities related issues. Monitor facilities for renovations and upgrades. Survey and make recommendations regarding summer construction projects.

Qualifications:

Masters degree in student personnel, higher education administration, or related field with at least 6 years in residence hall administration, including experience as a live-in staff member. Experience supervising midlevel Residential life professionals. Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories. Experience with Selection and development, facilities operations and team development.
Demonstrates organizational and leadership abilities. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Experience with computer applications.
Successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
