Position Description Summary:
The College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in the Department of Engineering Technology (http://www.niu.edu/ceet/tech) that will begin August 16, 2020. The department offers an M.S. program in Industrial Management and several emphases within its B.S. program, including ABET-accredited programs in Electrical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology and an ATMAE-accredited program in Industrial Management and Technology, with other emphases focused on Energy and Environmental Technology and Applied Manufacturing Technology. The Department of Engineering Technology is well established and enjoys a solid reputation for its students, its research, and its service to the engineering profession within the regional and national industrial communities. A research start-up package may be available.

Position Summary:

The Assistant Professor is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position that will be expected to have an interest in electrical or mechatronic systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach undergraduate/graduate courses (lecture and laboratory) in digital systems design, microcontrollers, mechatronics and other related areas;
  • Have teaching interests and research experiences in embedded systems, robotics, automation, IoT systems, or closely related areas;
  • Demonstrate strong potential and commitment for research initiation, pursuit of externally funded projects, publication in refereed journals and strong collaboration with industry;
  • Advise undergraduate/graduate students (will have the opportunity to advise Ph.D. students from other departments in the college);
  • Participate in appropriate professional and public services and activities.
