Job Description
Our Mission
We in Boston University Development & Alumni Relations (DAR) harness the power of philanthropy to make an excellent education accessible and welcoming to all, and to advance BU's global leadership in research, scholarship, artistic creation, and professional practice. To support our work, we have built-and are continuing to build-an outstanding team of dynamic, mission-driven advancement professionals who constantly strive to create an environment where everyone belongs. Now, our Alumni Relations team is looking for an Associate Director who will implement and oversee strategies to support and elevate recruitment and stewardship of Alumni Boards and Councils, including but not limited to the Boston University Alumni Council (BUAC), Black Alumni Leadership Council (BALC), Women's Leadership Council (WLC), and the awards selection and program.
Alumni Relations at Boston University
Alumni Relations at Boston University is responsible for connecting with, engaging, and helping foster lifetime connections with the 350,000+ Boston University Alumni across the globe. Alumni Relations is the first point of contact for alums looking to reconnect or engage with their alma mater through educational programs, special events, Alumni Weekend, Global Days of Service, Career and Business networking, volunteer opportunities, and Affinity Networks.

Required Skills
Bachelors degree; Master's preferred; 5-8 years of applicable experience. Direct experience in fundraising, marketing, relationship management, or higher education strongly preferred, ideally in a large, multi-layered organization. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
A self-starter able to exercise independent judgement and make decisions under uncertain conditions and with sometimes incomplete information. Must be an entrepreneurial, innovative, and resourceful team player who is able to identify barriers and solve problems in complex situations and with a high degree of quality.
Demonstrated experience in frontline relationship building, with direct experience in fundraising, sales, or volunteer management strongly preferred. Must be capable of building and maintaining relationships with alumni and colleagues.
Demonstrated ability to manage vertically to senior leadership and laterally across the organization. Must be able to find common ground and build positive, collaborative, goal-oriented relationships with colleagues within DAR and across BU.
