About the Opportunity:
Bouve College of Health Sciences has over 200 faculty members, with approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students. It is the leading national model for education and research in the health, psychosocial and biomedical sciences and supports the University's mission of educating students for a life of fulfillment and accomplishment and creating and translating knowledge to meet global and societal needs. Within Bouve, the Behrakis Health Sciences Center houses a state of the art human performance and exercise laboratory with teaching and research space, including fully equipped exercise stress testing stations, metabolic carts, Lunar DEXA machine, an underwater weighing tank, Cybex and Keiser strength and power equipment, wet lab facilities for blood processing and muscle biopsies. The Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite, opened in 2013, provides a state-of-the-art simulation center for interprofessional education.

Responsibilities:
Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs in the Bouve College of Health Sciences (BCHS) Dean's Office, the Assistant Director- Academic Operations is an integral position for the management, training and oversight of policy and processes related to undergraduate and graduate academics. The scope of the position includes curriculum, curriculum governance and approval processes, academic program information and accreditation, academic systems and data capture projects.

The Assistant Director- Academic Operations will oversee and guide a wide range of activities supporting the broadly defined areas of academic affairs, including: registration, class enrollments, class size targets, curriculum approval processes, development and implementation of academic-related policies, dissemination of information relating to academic systems and data capture projects, development and community building with departmental academic affairs personnel, and working with other key managers in creating an effective and efficient administrative structure as it relates to academic affairs in the Bouve College of Health Sciences. This position is expected to work independently and in collaboration with the Bouve Dean's Office, academic units across the university within and outside Bouve, curriculum committees, the Provost's Office, The Chancellor's Office and the Registrar's Office.

This position will provide high-level support to uphold the academic policies of the university, will provide exceptional customer service and continuous improvement of processes, and will use data to inform and evaluate academic affairs initiatives. Bouve College of Health Sciences offers undergraduate and graduate academic programs as well as several combined majors and minors.



Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred, or equivalent education and experience, with 4-6 years of high-level academic operations support preferably in academic or healthcare related environment.

Mature, experienced professional, capable of independently leading the administrative and management support activities of the Associate Deans' office in an effective and timely manner.

Expected skills include:

- Ability to interpret complex academic policies and procedures and generate new ideas and solutions (be proactive, creative and innovative);
- Ability to deal promptly and effectively with difficult problems and issues, plan and meet critical deadlines and master new situations or information quickly and easily;
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of privileged information, and perform a wide range of duties that require tact, sensitivity, independent judgment, diplomacy, organizational skills, flexibility and discretion;
- Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills which demonstrate the ability to effectively convey and explain information, influence outcomes and tactfully deal with diverse people, situations and ideas;
- Excellent written communication skills which demonstrate the ability to draft clear, concise specifications, documentation and reports.
- Ability to focus on key issues, research, gather and integrate information and lead or participate with others across organizational and institutional lines.
- Demonstrated management skills, including the ability to adapt to constantly changing priorities in managing a wide range of projects;
- Exemplary interpersonal skills; Ability to work well in teams and independently and to effectively work with staff at all levels of the organization;
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including strategic planning;
- Ability to provide guidance and coaching of process and policies to individual academics, unit management, and various committee groups.


- Strong decision making, analytical, problem solving, critical thinking, and resource management skills.
- Excellent technical skills with the ability to learn and use University online databases, software applications (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, others) and web- based communication platforms (Microsoft Teams, Blue Jeans, Zoom, etc)
