Job Description:


Adjunct or part time teaching assignments include in person day courses for general population as well as for Massasoit's Early College Program and include opportunities at local high schools.
Professors work collaboratively to create a learner centered environment focused on student learning and success. Teaching approaches are expected to include active and collaborative techniques and real-world applications related to composition and literature.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Develop and deliver engaging curriculums that cover all aspects of sports broadcasting, including production, on-air talent, reporting, writing, and promotion
  • Provide hands-on training in radio and television production techniques, including equipment operation, camera work, audio engineering, and video editing
  • Coach and mentor students in developing their on-air presence and communication skills, specializing in roles like play-by-play announcer, color analyst, sideline reporter, and studio show host/reporter/analyst
  • Instruct students in scriptwriting, interview techniques, research methods, and sports journalism best practices
  • Supervise and guide students in producing live sports broadcasts and pre-recorded sports programs
  • Stay current with industry trends and technologies in sports broadcasting and integrate them into the curriculum
  • Advise students on internships, career opportunities, and professional development
  • Provide consistent feedback
  • Evaluate achievement
  • Assign grades
  • Maintain student records of attendance, participation, grades, etc.
  • Work collaboratively with divisional staff
  • Monitor email communications from students and the college, and respond in a timely manner.

Additional Opportunities:

Participate in instructional development and orientation, department, early college, and college wide activities.

Requirements:


  • Master's degree in Communication, Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field
  • Minimum of three years of professional experience in sports broadcasting, preferably in multiple roles (e.g., production, on-air talent, reporting)
  • Demonstrated teaching experience at the college level is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of current industry trends and technologies in sports broadcasting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Passion for sports and a commitment to providing students with an exceptional educational experience
  • Proficiency in video editing software and audio engineering tools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with and understanding of the community college environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Capable of maintaining academic standards with empathy and honesty
  • Knowledge of and experience using effective pedagogical strategies



Additional Information:


Position Status: MCCC/MTA position

Semester: Academic Year Summer 2024-Spring 2024

Salary: $1,291 per credit, consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Worksite: Assignments may include all Massasoit sites.
