About the Position:
The Office of Title IX and Gender Equity is committed to ensuring that California State University, Fullerton is in compliance with Title IX and free from sex and gender-based discrimination. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Assistant Director and Investigator (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Assistant Director and Investigator conducts timely, thorough and impartial investigations of alleged discrimination and harassment based on sex, gender and/or sexual orientation; this can include sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and/or stalking. Develops a comprehensive investigation plan for each case; conducts interviews with parties, witnesses and advisors (if applicable); gathers evidence; ensures a well-documented investigative process by maintaining accurate and thorough records and notes of all investigatory process steps utilizing Maxient (case management database). Prepares detailed, accurate written reports. Makes recommendations on policy violations when applicable (including an analysis of the evidence and credibility determinations). Summarizes the investigatory process at live hearings when applicable. May be asked to facilitate the Informal Resolution process as well as conduct trainings for students and employees. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
A Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a relevant discipline. A minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in Title IX or related work for an educational institution. Experience working with Maxient or other similar database for case management. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to both be impartial and project impartiality and establish rapport with a diverse range of community members. Demonstrated ability to exercise superior judgment with the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential communications. Demonstrated commitment to serving a diverse population with cultural competence and sensitivity, as well as the ability to work with a wide range of constituencies including staff, students, faculty, administrators, and third parties with diplomacy and tact. Possession of strong organization and analytical skills. Ability to handle a significant caseload and manage multiple deadlines. Ability to build positive relationships and establish collaborative partnerships across the university.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
Masters or J.D. degree from an accredited four-year college or university. A minimum of five years of experience as an investigator. Completed training in Title IX compliance and conducting investigations for allegations of discrimination, harassment and/or retaliation. Experience working with in a higher education environment.
