The Department of Neurology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates must be board-certified in Neurology, must have completed an ACGME- approved or UCNS-approved fellowship in Neurocritical Care, and must be board-certified or eligible in Neurocritical Care.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching of fellows, residents, advanced practice providers and medical students will be expected through bedside rounds and through a formal didactic curriculum, including the Division's neurocritical care didactic conference. Teaching in the Perelman School of Medicine through formal courses, such as the Brain and Behavior Course, will be strongly encouraged. Opportunities for educational leadership within the Penn Neurocritical Care Fellowship Program may be available to the right candidate.
Clinical responsibilities may include for this primarily clinical position, responsibilities will include attending on all services of the Neurocritical Care Division, which presently include the primary inpatient NeuroICU services at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC), inpatient neurocritical care consultation, including consultation for the RECOVER (Recovery Following Acute Brain Injury) Program at HUP and/or PPMC. Outpatient responsibilities, most likely in the RECOVER Program clinic or the TBI clinic, are anticipated; the specific balance of inpatient consultative and outpatient work will be tailored to the applicant's interests. The position might, at a later date, include a Neurocritical Care Consult Service and/or a Tele-neurocritical care consult service.
The applicant must have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and clinical care. The successful applicant will have experience in the field of Neurology with completion of a fellowship in Neurocritical care.
