The University of Utah's Department of Health & Kinesiology is seeking to hire two faculty members at the rank of Assistant Professor on the Tenure Track who can develop and lead research programs that aim to improve, restore and/or optimize Human Performance, broadly defined.

Human Performance includes maximizing human capacity in healthy individuals, special populations -- including individuals with chronic disease, disability, or injury -- and individuals across the lifespan.

Candidates with expertise and experience in one or one or more of the following areas are encouraged to apply:

* Exercise physiology
* Sports science
* Rehabilitation
* Wearable technologies
* Neuromechanics
* Neuromodulation
* Neural control of movement

The ability to build and/or strengthen collaborations within the Department, across the College of Health as well as the University of Utah Health Sciences and Academic campuses is desirable.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include:

* Establish and maintain an innovative, collaborative, and externally funded program of research.
* Disseminate research findings through high-quality peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
* Contribute to collaborative and interdisciplinary research within the Department, College of Health, University of Utah Health, and broader University community.
* Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas of expertise within the Health & Kinesiology program, specifically related to human performance (broadly defined).
* Mentor undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students and contribute to the Department's research-intensive MS and PhD programs; and applied MS program.
* Contribute to the intellectual and scholarly activities in Human Performance (broadly defined).
* Participate in appropriate service to the Department, College, University, profession, and/or community.

Minimum qualifications

Applicants must have:
* An earned doctorate (PhD, DrPH, ScD, or equivalent) in kinesiology, or another discipline relevant to the areas mentioned above.
* Evidence of the potential to develop an independent and impactful program of research.
* A record of peer-reviewed scholarship appropriate to career stage.
* Evidence of, or strong potential for, obtaining competitive extramural research funding;
* Evidence of, or potential for, excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
* Strong potential to contribute to collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

Preferred qualifications

* Postdoctoral research experience.

* Sleep, Circadian Physiology and Cognition Suite
* Metabolic Kitchen
* Mobility and Stability Laboratory
* Musculoskeletal Biomechanics Laboratory

Faculty also have access to 24 core research facilities available at the University (cores.utah.edu) and the opportunity to collaborate with other entities across the academic and health sciences campuses including the Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute, Center for Metabolic Health, Center on Aging, Huntsman Mental Health Institute, Huntsman Cancer Institute, the Responsible Artificial Intelligence Initiative, Digital Health Initiative, College of Health Community Outreach and Engagement, among others.

Faculty in the Department of Health and Kinesiology have afforded success in obtaining extramural funding such as support from NIH, CDC, DOD and NSF.
